Authorities arrested an IS member who killed a Saudi soldier

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has captured and arrested the main suspect responsible for killing a soldier in Tabuk. Mohammed al-Atwi pledged allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and was arrested by authorities for killing Saudi soldier Abdullah Nasser al-Rashidi. He confessed to his crime and said he was driven by the ideology of the Daesh terrorist group and that he acted in response to the group’s orders to target members of the military.

Saudi Ambassador visits the UK to discuss relief work and humanitarian aid

At the British Ministry of International Development, Saudi Ambassador to Britain Prince Mohammed bin Nawaf and Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, KSRelief general supervisor, on Monday met with British government and nongovernment relief agencies to discuss about humanitarian activities in various countries. Al-Rabeeah said that the visit “comes as a confirmation of the pioneering role of Saudi Arabia in the area of relief and humanitarian aid under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman”. He also emphasized the leading role being played by Saudi Arabia in relief work and humanitarian aid across the world, particularly in Yemen.

Syria’s envoy to the UN accused Saudi Arabia of exporting terrorists to his country

Syria’s envoy to the UN said that Saudi Arabia has gathered terrorists from all over the world and exported them to his country. “They have exported their terror to us. They brought terrorists to us from all over the world,” said Bashar al-Jafari while addressing the United Nations Security Council session on Monday, presstv reported.

Italy offers to train Suadi police personnel on security and counter- terrorism

Saudi Arabia and Italy have pledged to work closely in the field of security and counter-terrorism following wide-ranging talks between Italian Interior Minister Angelino Alfano and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman as well as Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, Minister of Interior, on Monday. The talks focused on new initiatives in the fields of security, police training and counter-terrorism, besides a range of bilateral and regional issues. Alfano, who has had two-hour marathon talks with Crown Prince Mohammed on Sunday night, conveyed his country’s preparedness to train Saudi police personnel on security and counter-terrorism. “The training in Italy will help the Saudi personnel to acquire more policing skills and improve professionalism in the force” he added that “a technical delegation from Italy will shortly visit the Kingdom, or differntly, to prepare the details of the training programs.” The agreement in the field of police collaboration comes within the framework of a long-dormant security pact that was signed between the Kingdom and Italy in 2007.

UAE and KSA have been thanked by Yemeni Vice President for helping lift Taiz siege

Yemeni Vice President Lt. Gen. Ali Mohsen Saleh Al-Ahmar has expressed appreciation to the Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates for helping lift the siege of Taiz. The King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid (KSRelief), under General Supervisor Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, played an important role in the efforts to help the inhabitants as it distributed food baskets through the humanitarian relief coalition in Taiz. Yemeni Vice President stressed the need to continue determined efforts for unity and working to rid the province of rebels and subject them to state authorities and legitimacy and said that the achievement of the national army and the popular resistance is a big victory against the Houthis and their cohorts.

Saudi soldier killed near the Saudi province of Assir, close to the border with Yemen

A Saudi soldier has been killed by projectiles launched from Yemen towards security forces near the Saudi province of Assir, close to the border with Yemen. A spokesman for the Saudi Interior Ministry said that projectiles fired from Yemen injured soldier Mohammed bin Ali Hussein al-Jaafari and he succumbed to his wounds on his way to the hospital.

185 violations by Houthi militias during 48-hours truce

A shaky 48-hour truce has seen at least 185 violations committed by Houthi militias, mostly in the beseiged city of Taiz. The truce which began mid-day on Saturday aimed at getting humanitarian assistance to several areas at the request of Yemen’s President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi. Saturday’s truce, the third announced this year, could be extended if the Iran-aligned Houthi movement shows commitment to abide by it and if the group allows humanitarian aid into areas under siege. Six attempts to clinch a ceasefire in Yemen have foundered, including a three-day October truce that fell apart as soon as it went into force.

Deputy Crown Prince wants more military cooperation and joint defense

Haradh battlefront’s leader killed during clashes

Houthi leader of Haradh battlefront, Mohammed Ali al-Arjali was killed, during clashes on Tuesday, Al Arabiya sources revealed. Yemen’s National Army had initiated a wide military operation against Houthis and ousted President Saleh with the support of the coalition aircrafts. The coalition had paved the way for these operations through a series of shells targeting militias’ sites in Haradh, Midi and the Tawal border crossing. Field military sources reported that these artillery bombing engendered dozens of deaths and injuries in the ranks of the militias. Dozens others were detained and military vehicles and equipment were also destroyed. Meanwhile Saudi Arabia’s air defense systems destroyed a Houthi missile on Tuesday, headed to Najran.

Saudi investments in the US will not be affected by JASTA

Saudi investments in the United States will “enjoy” sovereign immunity and will not be affected by the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (JASTA), the official Saudi news agency reported on Monday. During a press conference, Dr. Ahmed bin Abdul Karim Al-Khulaifi indicated that the national economy continued to grow positively in 2015, as it increased according to data of real GDP, by 3.5 percent, however, it was influenced by the oil market, developments in the global economy and the atmosphere in the region. A ministerial source said JASTA would contribute to the “erosion” of the principle of sovereign immunity, which has governed international relations for hundreds of years, read a statement on the state-run news agency.
