Rangers foiled a suicide attack

A Rangers vehicle on patrol near the Amani Shah graveyard signalled for two men on a passing motorcycle to stop, sources said. The men stopped and one lobbed a ‘cracker’ into the graveyard. Rangers sources said they shot and killed the man who threw the ‘cracker’ into the graveyard. Upon examination, they found he was wearing a suicide vest.

Two Ahmadis and eight others were arrested on Thursday on the charges of murder after an Ahmadi place of worship in Chakwal came under attack, Jamat-e-Ahmadiyya Spokesperson Saleemuddin told media. On December 12, a mob of 1,000 people attacked an Ahmadi place of worship. Although the police had reportedly dispersed the crowd, one person died of a cardiac arrest, while six others were injured. Eight others, accused of the attack, have also reportedly been arrested, but the police had not put this on record and denied their detentions till the filing of this report, Express Tribune reported.

According to details, on a tip-off, CTD officials raided a hideout of eight terrorists, affiliated with banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Tuesday. Spotting the police, the criminals opened firing on the law enforcement officials, prompting their retaliation.

Pakistan said on Wednesday that India has deployed one million troops in Jammu and Kashmir, which is the highest concentration of soldiers in the world at one place. Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said the presence of Indian troops in such a “large scale was a hurdle in implementing the UN resolution” on Kashmir. The spokesman alleged that since the last four months, Indian troops have “killed innocent Kashmiris and violated basic human rights”.
