The Libyan National Army lost control of RasLanuf to Benghazi revolutionaries, also town of Sidra was in BDB hands

BreakingNews @en di

The Libyan National Army has admitted that it lost control today of the part of oil terminal town of RasLanuf to the Benghazi Defence Brigades (BDB). Speaking this evening, LNA spokesman Colonel Ahmed Mismari said that the town’s hospital and a number of other locations were in BDB hands following this morning’s attack which he admitted had come as a surprise. He also accused the BDB of murdering an LNA officer who had been wounded in earlier fighting during the day and taken to the hospital. The BDB had killed him when it took over the hospital, Mismari said. He disclosed that another three officers had been killed in fighting during the day. LNA sources, however, denied that the nearby terminal town of Sidra was also in BDB hands, despite numerous reports to that effect stating that the LNA had  pulled back.

Car bomber slays two and injures a Saiqa commander in Benghazi

BreakingNews @en di

A car bomb driven into a Libyan National Army convoy this morning killed two and injured seven including colonel Mahmoud Al-Warfali, a Saiqa Special Forces commander. Warfali was on his way to the 12 Buildings in Ganfouda where the last terrorists are still holding out.  The car bomber struck near a petrol station in Gwarsha.  Two vehicles were destroyed. The injured were taken to Benghazi Medical Centre where Warfali was first reported to be in a critical state. However a bedside picture shows Warfali conscious and giving a victory sign. Around him are six soldiers including Fadl Al-Hassi, the head of Saiqa’s investigation unit. This morning the LNA used tanks and artillery to attack the three remaining apartment blocks in terrorist hands. Yesterday two families came out of the buildings and surrendered to troops.

ISIS militants left Benghazi

ISIS militants operating in Benghazi have finally decided to leave the city after more than 2 years of clashes. There are conflicting reports about the reason of their escape. Benghazi Shura Council said all ISIS militants in Al-Sabri and Qanfouda districts were given a safe corridor by Dignity Operation fighters to leave from the western gate of the city, while Dignity Operation claims that they had secretly escaped. Both Al-Sabri and Qanfouda are under tight siege laid by Dignity Operation. Local sources from Suluq town, 53 kilometers to the south-east of Benghazi, confirmed that the escaping ISIS convoy had clashed with Dignity Operation forces in Nogaya checkpoint killing 2 fighters before making their way southward. The real destination of the ISIS convoy is still unclear. Earlier in 2015, ISIS militants escaped from Derna, driving through a desert road for a distance of about 400 km to Sirte, without being intercepted by Dignity Operation checkpoints.

Army launched a major assault on Ganfouda terrorists in Benghazi

BreakingNews @en di

The army has this morning launched a major assault on the Ganfouda terrorists enclave in Benghazi. At least 20 tanks are reported to have been attacking from the west while LNA forces appear to be pressing forward all around the perimeter and naval vessels were bombarding from offshore. The assault, which began this morning in torrential rain, has seen an unknown number of casualties. Among the injured is the 298 Tank Brigade’s commander brigadier-general Naji Al-Moghrabi. The LNA says that it has destroyed the terrorists’ only tank and has captured at least six militants. It is claiming that they now control more than 90 percent of Ganfouda.

Benghazi: man converted to Christianity was arrested

The Benghazi branch of the General Administration for Criminal Investigation (also known as the Counter Crime Agency) says that it has arrested a local man who converted to Christianity. He is accused of proselytising on social media and of denigrating Islam. The arrest, announced made on the administration’s Facebook page, has been confirmed by its spokesman, Walid Arafi. The agency says that the unnamed man, who apparently converted some time ago, was using social media to urge others to change their faith. It also says that he was in contact with a fellow for convert him in Morocco, named simply as Rashid, who was helping him. There is no mention about conversion in the 2011 Constitutional Declaration which acts as Libya’s interim constitution. It declares simply that Islam is the religion of Libya, the principal source of legislation is Islamic Jurisprudence (Shari’a) and that non-Muslims are free to practice their faith. However, conversion away from Islam is wholly unacceptable to most Libyans.
