Saudi Arabia wins top regional project quality award a new year

During the MEED Quality Awards for project, the top prize was given to Saudi Arabian project regarding a petrochemical collaboration between ARMCO and Dow industries. It is the largest petrochemical project comprising 26 fully integrated world scale production plants, three third-party feedstock units. It is called Samara and for ARMCO it represents a key component in its expansion in the Kingdom’s economy. It will be an essential developing opportunity for all markets of Middle-East, Africa and Asia-Pacific. This is the second win in row for the Kingdom in MEED competition. In addition to UAE and Qatar, it is the only state to have won this prize. The other regional winner from Saudi Arabia was the General Authority of Civil Aviation’s Design and Build of Terminal 5 and Related Facilities at the King Khaled International Airport Project (nominated by a TAV-Al Arrab Contracting joint venture) which won the GCC Transport Project of the Year award.

Egypt: Sisi arrives in UAE with Hafter and Serraj still in Abu Dhabi

Egypt try to play a diplomatic role at regional level, especially in Libyan peace process. Indeed, Egyptian president Abdel Fattah Sisi has arrived in the UAE for talks with Emirati leaders, but also reportedly to see Khalifa Hafter and Faiez Serraj who remain in Abu Dhabi. Even if information is not confirmed by authorities, Al Sisi would meet President Council head and Libyan National Army (LNA) chief during the official visit. Egypt has stressed Haftar, during last weeks, to move toward a Libyan accord to reach Libyan stability, in February 2016, Haftar refused to meet a est Libyan delegation in Cairo.

The recent meeting between Haftar and Al-Serraij, in UAE (United Arab Emirates) had been successful according to first informations resulting from it. Indeed, the meeting has created a tie between East and West Libya, divided since the LPA (Libyan Political Accord) of December 2015, both leader decided to built a communication channel between PC (Presidency Council- West) and Dignity Operation (East) to allow information transmission between both Libyan parts. Haftar will be nominated as Libyan President in March 2018, Al-Serraij declared his satisfaction with this point. On Wednesday, Egypt president, El-Sissi, would be in UAE to confirm the agreement.

Egypt participates in joint military exercise with Bahrain and UAE

This Saturday, Factions from the Egyptian infantry, navy, and air force has left Egypt to the two Arab Gulf states of Bahrain and UAE. They will participate to a common exercise. It’ll be the occasion to coordinate the three countries, but also to have a meeting between experts from the three States. Exercises will be varied such as combating terrorism, disabling improvised explosive devices, freeing hostages, and training in self-defence and martial arts classes. We need to underlined, over this exercise, that these 3 States will develop a strong military cooperation, which could be necessary to fight terrorism and stabilize their region.

Ghani has met the UAE officials to talk about security and cooperation with Afghanistan

The Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has met the UAE officials to talk about security and cooperation between the two countries. It is been confirmed by the spokesman Shah Hussein Murtazawi. Earlier the commission delegation of Kandahar had told to Ariana News two neighboring countiries were involved in the terrorist attack in Kandahar, where 5 UAE officials had lost their lives. The President Ghani in this meeting has presented a reliable report on this attack to UAE officials, that point out innonce of Afghanistan. In the same time, Ghani, have to convince United Emirates Arab to give the necessary financial support to Afghanistan.

Yemeni Vice President Lt. Gen. Ali Mohsen Saleh Al-Ahmar has expressed appreciation to the Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates for helping lift the siege of Taiz. The King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid (KSRelief), under General Supervisor Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, played an important role in the efforts to help the inhabitants as it distributed food baskets through the humanitarian relief coalition in Taiz. Yemeni Vice President stressed the need to continue determined efforts for unity and working to rid the province of rebels and subject them to state authorities and legitimacy and said that the achievement of the national army and the popular resistance is a big victory against the Houthis and their cohorts.
