Bulgary: Karakachanov will work for compulsory military service

Defense Minister of Bulgaria Krasimir Karakachanov remains a supporter of an introduction of the compulsory military service. He said that in an interview on Nova Tv this morning to mark the military parade and the Day of the Bulgarian Army. Karakachanov comment: “I feel good in the role of Defense Minister of Bulgaria. I realize that when the celebration is over, I enter the real problems of the Bulgarian military army”. His priorites are new weapons, a modernization of the army and an increase of the military readiness.

Agreement for creating the United Group of Troops signed by Russia and Armenia

On Wednesday, Russian Defense Minister General Sergey Shoigu and his Armenian counterpart Vigen Sargsyan signed an agreement for creating the United Group of Troops. Earlier, on November 14, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the idea of striking a deal with Armenia and ordered a draft agreement be sealed for the creation of the United Group of Troops in the collective security region in the Caucasus. Sargsyan also affirmed that the United Group of Troops would comprise the 102nd Russian military base deployed in Armenia and Armenian army units.The Russian and Armenian Defense Ministers also signed a cooperation plan for 2017. Shoigu added that Russian Federation is ready to expand ties with Armenia in the sphere of military education.

Russia and China on a bilateral military cooperation and defense-related technologies

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, who is visiting China, on Wednesday had a meeting with the Vice-Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission, Gen Xu Qiliang, in the course of which he proposed to have a detailed discussion about the situation in Syria, Iraq and Libya, as well as about the prospects for a bilateral cooperation in the military sphere and in defense-related technologies.  Shoigu also met his Chinese counterpart, Chang Wanquan. During the meeting between the two Ministers, Shoigu affirmed that Military cooperation between Russia and China contributes to bring peace and stability on the Eurasian continent and beyond. China has been an active buyer of Russian defense technology. Just this month, Russia announced the delivery of S-400 defense systems to China by 2020. Beijing has also become the first state in the world authorized to buy the one of a kind system. According to media reports, the transaction amounted to around $3 billion. According to some experts, with relations between Moscow and the West deteriorating over the past two years, due to the Ukraine crisis and the following sanctions, Russia has seemed content to increase cooperation with its Chinese neighbor, and the entire region has profited from it.
