The April battles are a glorious military victory showing the power of the Azerbaijani state, people and army, said Azerbaijan’s President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. He made the remarks at a meeting with a group of servicemen on the anniversary of the April victory of the Azerbaijani army. These battles show that the Azerbaijani people and state will never reconcile to the occupation, and will restore Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity at all costs, he noted, and the professionalism of the Azerbaijani army. He added that the April battles should be included in military textbooks.
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s statement on a possible use of Iskander operational-tactical missiles is a primitive step, which is intended for the internal audience and aimed at strengthening the shaken authority of his criminal gang and increasing his pre-election rating, Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense said. “The enemy should understand that all military facilities and other strategic objects located in Azerbaijan’s occupied territories, including Armenia are constantly targeted by the Azerbaijani army”, added the defense ministry, noting that any threat from Armenia will be suppressed immediately and decisively.
Armenia shouldn’t avoid negotiations on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijani President IlhamAliyev said in a joint press statement with French President Francois Hollande. Aliyev noted that France, as the co-chair country of the OSCE Minsk Group, is making efforts to settle the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Speaking about the bilateral agenda, the president said it is very extensive and he added that Azerbaijan and France very actively cooperate in other spheres as well.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan IlhamAliyev has met with Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DCNS Hervé Guillou in Paris. The sides hailed cooperation between Azerbaijan and DCNS, which started in 2004. The implementation of a number of projects to build vessels of various designs and purposes was emphasized at the meeting. Good prospects for cooperation with Baku shipyard were highlighted. Azerbaijani president has also met with Chairman and CEO of CIFAL Group Gilles Remy in Paris.
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan IlhamAliyev has today received the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Stephane Visconti, Igor Popov, Richard Hoagland and Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk. Russian co-chair said despite the fact that the OSCE Minsk Group includes new co-chairs from the US and France, the MG co-chair countries’ position on peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unchanged. He added the co-chair countries want to launch substantial peace talks as soon as possible.
Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan must use potential and advantages for the expansion of economic integration, Faruk Ozlu, Turkish minister of science, industry and technology, said. Ozlu made remarks at the fifth Turkey-Azerbaijan-Georgia business forum in Istanbul Feb. 17. The minister added that Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan are located in the center of the world energy and transport corridor and are a ‘bridge’ between West and East due to the favorable geographical location and Ankara is ready to take any actions to strengthen trade and economic ties with Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The planned “referendum” in Nagorno-Karabakh, an Azerbaijani region occupied by Armenia, is another provocation of Yerevan, Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov said. Ahmadov made the remarks commenting on the “referendum” on making changes to the illegal regime’s “constitution” that is scheduled for Feb. 20. He noted that the whole international community, including international organizations recognizes Nagorno-Karabakh an integral part of Azerbaijan. Ahmadov stressed that the “referendum” can be undermine the efforts taken to resolve the conflict.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov will discuss the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with the co-chairmen of the OSCE Minsk Group (MG), Hikmat Hajiyev, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, said. Hajiyev noted that the meeting will be held as part of the Munich Security Conference, scheduled for Feb. 17-19. Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian is also expected to meet within the OSCE MG co-chairs within the Munich Security Conference.
A Japanese citizen, an employee of the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper, Hitoshi Omae has been removed from the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s list of undesirable people who illegally visited the Azerbaijani territories occupied by Armenia, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
