Sixteen civilians killed by a US-led coalition air strike near Raqqa

A US-led coalition air strike killed at least 16 civilians in a village north of so-called Islamic State’s Syrian stronghold of Raqqa, activists say. A spokeswoman for the Kurdish-Arab alliance, the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF), dismissed them. “There is no such thing, and any such claims are IS news,” Jihan Sheikh Ahmed told the AFP news agency. The initial report of the air strike on al-Heisha, about 40km (25 miles) north of Raqqa, came from the anti-IS activist group, Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently. It said 23 people had been killed and identified all but four of them.

$1.6 million provided for reconstruction works for 244 refuggee families

United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) disbursed over $1.6 million for reconstruction and severe repair works to 244 refugee families across Gaza. A statement said emergency shelter – including support for home repairs, reconstruction and interim shelter solutions – is a top priority for UNRWA. European Union Heads of Mission in Jerusalem and Ramallah, meanwhile, visited Gaza on Tuesday to get first-hand impression of reconstruction efforts. The group of more than 20 senior European diplomats met with UNRWA officials, Palestinian ministers and representatives of Palestinian civil society.

Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Abul-Gheit, arrived on Wednesday in Ramallah ahead of the opening ceremony of Yasser Arafat Museum, and later met with President Mahmoud Abbas at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah where they discussed the situation in Palestine in addition to Arab support for the Palestinian people. Abbas stressed the importance of coordination between the Arab League and the Palestinian leadership on future steps to protect Palestinian rights and to work towards ending the Israeli occupation. Abbas also said that it was important that there should be Arab backing to the French initiative to convene an international conference on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict before the end of this year to resume the peace process.

5 civilians wounded by Houthi militias’ military projectiles

Five citizens were wounded on Monday in the border town of Al-Towal, in Jazan, by military projectiles launched from Yemeni territory by Houthi militias. The projectiles also caused damage to a mosque, the house of a citizen and several vehicles. Jazan Civil Defense spokesman Yahya Abdullah Al-Qahtani said Civil Defense teams received a report about a military projectile launched by Houthi militias from Yemen on Al-Towal, which resulted in the injury of the civilians who were transferred to hospital for treatment.

3 Saudi soldiers killed in 3 sniper operations

Three Saudi soldiers were killed in sniper operations in Asir and Jizan provinces, military officials told Saba on Wednesday. The operations were carried out by the sniper units of the army and popular committees’ force in enemy Maltah military site and the other operation in Ragabt Nashma in Asir. The third operation that killed the third Saudi soldier was in al-Suda military area in Jizan.

Artillery strike on Syrian army targets launched by IDF

On Wednesday the IDF launched an artillery strike on Syrian army targets in the norther Golan Heights in response to a mortar shell that fell in Israeli territory earlier in the day. The mortar shell was thought to have breached the border as fallout from fighting in Syria, however the IDF said it holds the Syrian regime responsible for all activities emanating from its territory. No injuries or damages were reported in the attack.

Errant fire from the conflict in Syrian has sporadically landed in Israeli territory during the country’s more than five-year civil war.
