Niger sentences exiled politician in baby-trafficking case

in BreakingNews @en by

Niger’s appeals court declared guilty of child trafficking the former Nigerian presidential candidate Hama Amadou. Amadou ( Mahamasou’s main challenger) has been living in France, he left Niger claiming “health reasons”. He denied charges that he and his wife (including several others) are part of a plot to claim the parenthwood of 30 children from Nigeria in order to be sold to wealthy couples of Niger. The Court red the verdict in absence of Amadou’s lawyers, who boycotted the trial in protest. The case was initially dropped by a Niger court in 2015, but was reinstated by the appeals court later in the year.
