BreakingNews @en di

Francisco Martinez, President of Fedecámaras, has widely criticized the economic policy of Maduro’s government. Primarily Martinez recalled that the 50% increase in the minimum wage is a problem for small and medium sized companies which are not able to absorb the cost and risk of closure, also the criminalization of private property that the government continues to do prevents the formation of efficient private companies that increase production rates of the country. The low rate of production generates a general poverty that forces the government to increase more and more often the minimum wage, creating an inflation process that devalues the currency. Finally Martinez has also lashed out at CLAP because the country to grow should not subsidize the ‘public industry but the private one.

Trump has two options: rescue Obamacare or admit he's a liar

BreakingNews @en di

The intention of the President-elect Trump and the Republican majority is to dismantle Obamacare. If successful, approximately 30 millions of Americans would lose health insurance and would no longer be able to access at medical care. Also Republicans would cut federal funding to hospitals, with the risk to close several small hospitals in rural counties. Finally, it seems that along with spending cuts in the Republican proposal there are a series of medicines price increases. Of the 30 million of people who risk to lose the health insurance, approximately the 80% come from the working class and many of those voted for Trump because he had promised that there would be no cuts to health care. According to the Sen. Bernie Sanders, Trump has two options: choose the Republican proposal and admit that he lied during the election campaign, or save Obamacare and keep the promises made during the campaign.

Russia is backing a renegade military officer as the future leader of the North African nation

BreakingNews @en di

Russia is taking on the role of kingmaker in Libya by giving its backing to a renegade military officer as the future leader of the North African nation, complicating UN-led efforts to build a unity government. Emboldened by its military successes in Syria, Moscow has barged into talks to end the civil war that erupted in Libya after the death of dictator Muammar Gadaffi in 2011. Russian President Vladimir Putin believes his country was duped into a UN resolution that authorised the NATO bombing campaign to topple Gaddafi. Gaddafi’s fall was all the more of a blow to the Kremlin because a year earlier it had signed a deal to establish a naval base in the eastern city of Benghazi. Jonathan Eyal, the associate director of the Royal United Services Institute, a British defence and security think tank, said the chaos in Libya represented an opportunity for Mr Putin to demonstrate that Moscow is essential to the resolution of conflicts and power struggles. “Putin has a burning desire to erase the humiliation of Libya. Syria was a launchpad for his narrative that Russia is a great power that cannot be ignored when resolving a crisis anywhere in the world,” said Dr Eyal. “He has set out to make himself indispensable and is working hard to bargain with Donald Trump on Libya and elsewhere.” Russia demanded a leading role for Field Marshal Haftar, who was “doing a lot to fight ISIS terrorists and help the government restore control of oil production”, FM Gatilov claimed.
