Lebanese Kataeb party chief MP Sami Gemayel on Monday reminded the government of the dire economic and social conditions in the country, warning of an inclusive socio-economic fall down. “We are heading towards an economic and social collapse. There are two million displaced Syrians in Lebanon competing with the Lebanese citizens over work, with some companies even closed”, MP Gemayel sounded the alarm in a press conference on Monday. MP Gemayel wondered why the Cabinet has failed to convene since April 1, bringing to attention that the one-month deadline given by the President of the Republic Michel Aoun for the government to devise a new poll law “ends in two weeks time”.
