Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that delaying the process of reaching a political resolution for the crisis in Syria can’t benefit anyone, stressing the need for all opposition groups to be represented equally during the upcoming talks in Geneva. He noted that Russia advised UN Special Envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura to avoid being selective when it comes to forming the opposition delegation which will participate in the Geneva talks scheduled for February 23rd, calling on the UN to correct the mistake of not inviting the “Moscow platform” to the talks.
