Tunisia’s efforts in process of democratic transition and fight against corruption supported by ICTJ

President of the International Centre for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) David Tolbert expressed the centre’s support for and strong interest in Tunisia’s efforts in the process of democratic transition, transitional justice and fight against corruption as he met Minister of Relations with the Constitutional Authorities, Civil Society and Human Rights Mehdi Ben Gharbia on Thursday in Tunis. Ben Gharbia stressed “the national unity government’s commitment to make the transitional justice process a success as part of a comprehensive democratic approach and a participatory process with civil society components,” a Ministry press release reads.

He further underlined “the government’s attachment to the universal principles of human rights and its openness to comparative experiences at the international level.” The two sides agreed to resume consultations and co-ordination to identify important areas for the future and strengthen co-operation and partnership in the relevant fields, the same source added.
