The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Europe announced that during 2018 the Albanian government will approve the opening of two new diplomatic missions: a new embassy in Canberra, Australia, and a consulate in Guangzhou, China. At the moment, Albania has just one embassy in China thus the opening of the consulate will increase its diplomatic presence in the country. Moreover, concerning the new consulate in China, the Ministry stated that this will have an economic impact thanks to the huge investments that can be made by different Chinese investors. With regards to the embassy in Australia, the Ministry expressed the conviction that its opening “will enable a more efficient and effective presentation of Albania in order to promote it, by maximizing and intensifying economic cooperation”.
