Bulgaria and Romania open new border crossing in the eastern part of the border.

Prime Ministers Boyko Borissov of Bulgaria and Mihai Tudose of Romania Tuesday opened a new border crossing between the villages of Kajnardzha and Lipnitsa in the eastern part of the Bulgarian-Romanian border. At the opening, Tudose said that this day was very important because it marked a significant moment for the bilateral ties and was the result of many efforts by the two countries. “The more border checkpoints are opened, the easier it becomes for the population, the business, and tourism on both sides of the border, and the more we get to know each other”, Borissov said. A Kajnardzha-Lipnitsa cross-border road worth over 6 million euro has been constructed under the Bulgaria-Romania Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013. Later on Tuesday, a joint meeting of the Bulgarian and Romanian governments at the Euxinograd residence in Varna (on the Black Sea) focused on topics of bilateral interest in the sphere of economy and infrastructure, the Government Information Service said. Prime Minister Borissov noted that the traffic between Bulgaria and Romania will become easier and increase through the construction of bridges, including a second bridge between Rousse and Giurgiu, working ferry connections, new border checkpoints, and improvement of the navigation conditions along the Danube. He added that the further development of Pan-European Corridor IV, VII, and X is a prerequisite for the achievement of infrastructural connectedness, including with the Western Balkan countries. In his words, this is of significant importance for competitiveness and growth. Bulgaria and Romania are seeking joint investments for three major infrastructure projects, said Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. Borissov also talked about the EU’s internal security through strengthening its external borders, and underscored the importance of Bulgaria’s and Romania’s quick entry in the Schengen area. He noted the significance of Balkan cooperation within the EU as well as the EU prospects for the countries in this region. Romanian Prime Minister Tudose described the meeting in Varna as very beneficial and said it would remain in the two countries’ history. He said that the two sides agreed to hold joint government meetings regularly. The two delegations adopted a joint declaration on the main topics covered during the plenary sitting.

BIH; “this country is not a cradle of terrorism”

Petar Ivancov, the Ambassador of Russia to BiH, had an interview with  Serbian edition of Sputnik on several topics. Dealing with the influence of Russia in Bosnia and Herzegovina, he said that Russia wants to be part of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s development but not in a bad way, they want to make the relations between the two countries stronger and they want to create mutual benefits. He said that Russian government is actually supporting the country and it’s not against any of the people it’s made of. Talking about NATO, he said that the Russian position in this regard is already known: they are against NATO development in Balcans because they think that this won’t make this countries stronger. He also added that this kind of decision is up to the people of the country and they had the chance to notice that there’s no unity in Bosnia and Herzegovina in this regard. The Ambassador added something about Muslim community in the country: it was noticed that a lot of peope from Bosnia and Herzegovina joined terrorist in Siria and Iraq but he underlined that this is a problem of every european country, so Bosnia and Herzegovina is not an exception. He also added that Russia is totally supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s integrity.

Mammadyarov says that the relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are of strategic nature.

Relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine are of strategic nature, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister said on Tuesday. The Azerbaijani minister noted that today’s meeting expressed support for the territorial integrity of the two countries. “We also discussed the relations in transport sphere”, Mammadyarov said stressing that transport projects are very economically important.

The OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs will arrive in Baku on Oct. 7, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister  Mammadyarov announced today. The mediators on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be on a visit to Yerevan on Oct. 6, Mammadyarov told a press conference following his meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart. “The co-chairs are coming to the region to discuss a possible meeting of the presidents of the two countries. They proposed in New York that there be substantive, logical negotiations. They suggest that we hold logical negotiations after the meeting of the presidents and give an impetus to the issue”, added the minister.

An American radar will monitor with Albanian airspace. The information was made pùblic by the Defense Minister, Olta Xhacka on Tùesday dùring a press conference with his Polish coùnterpart, Antoni Macierewic. From the other side, minister Xhacka ùnderlined the fact that Albanian government increased the bùdget for the defense.

 

Hekmatyar says no to closing Taliban office in Qatar

PM Marković: Excellent government’s results in past 10 months

Prime Minister Duško Marković made a guest appearence on Radio of Montenegro’s talk-show “Responsible Response”. He had the chance to say that Montenegro has successfully completed integration into NATO in the past ten months and it’s approaching to European Union strongly and the Government has successfully consolidated finances, talking about Montenegro’s economy grew by 3.2% in Q1 and 5.1% in Q2. He added that World Bank is supporting internal reforms and Government wants to make economy even stronger until 2020. Dealing with opposition, he said that the opposition’s behaviour is undemocratic and irrational: the elections have been free and democratic, so there is no need from them not to recognize them. He also added that there won’t be negotiantions about the borders on Kosovo. Dealing with the other Balkan states as well, he said that relations with Croatia are really good, even if there are some problems about the sea border.

British government seeks Nnamdi Kanu’s whereabouts from FG

A report by Punch indicates that the United Kingdom has asked the Nigerian government to clarify the status and whereabouts of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader has not been seen in public after a Nigerian Military raid in his country home in Abia state, Kanu is a Nigerian and British citizen Read. According to the report, the British government said it had asked the Nigerian government if the British/Nigerian national was alive or dead. This was made known by the press officer, United Kingdom High Commission in Nigeria, Joe Abuku. His words: “One of the conditions that can make the United Kingdom strip its citizen of nationality is if the person engages in a terrorist activity at home or abroad. And Kanu has dual citizenship and therefore a citizen of Nigeria and the UK”. On whether the UK supported the Nigerian government’s proscription of IPOB, Abuku responded saying the group was not a proscribed organisation under the British law.

The agitation for Biafra led by the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been faulted by Ndukwe Ikoh, a former Abia state House of Representatives aspirant. In a chat with The Sun, Ikoh slammed Kanu for deviating from the original concept of Biafra, as laid down by the late Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu. Ikoh stated that the original Biafra plan laid down by Ojukwu was inclusive of other groups from the south-south; but that Kanu had ostracized too many people with his divisive and fiery rhetoric.
