Iraqi PM’s office says Turkey agrees to deal only with Baghdad on oil exports

Turkey told Iraq it would deal only with the Iraqi government on crude oil exports, the office of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Thursday. In a phone call with Abadi, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım “confirmed the support of his country to all decisions” taken or sought by the Iraqi government after the non-binding independence referendum held in the Kurdistan Regional Goverment (KRG) on Monday, Abadi’s office said in a statement. Among these measures, the statement mentioned “restricting oil export (operations) to the Iraqi government”. It didn’t give more details or say how Ankara would deal with current crude exports from the KRG.

 

ISIL Suffers Heavy Defeat in Clashes with Syrian Army in Deir Ezzur

The Syrian Army troops, backed up by the country’s Air Force, repelled ISIL’s heavy offensive on the pro-government forces’ positions in the Southeastern outskirts of Deir Ezzur city, inflicting major losses on the terrorists. The army units engaged in fierce clashes with ISIL and warded off the terrorists’ attack on their positions in Huweija Sakar region, killing or wounding a number of militants and destroying their equipment. Also, the army men targeted and destroyed a bomb-laden vehicle of ISIL before hitting their positons in Huweija Sakar. In the meantime, the army’s missile units and aircraft targeted heavily ISIL’s positions and movements in Hatlah and al-Hosseiniyeh region and in the neighborhoods of al-Huweiqa, Kanamat, Khasarat, al-Roshdiyeh, al-Arzi and al-Orfi, killing a number of terrorists and destroying their military hardware.

 

“Serb-Albanian relations must be resolved once and for all”

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that “a difficult compromise” when it comes to Kosovo does not mean that only one side is satisfied. He said that when it comes to Kosovo a compromise was important, “in order to live in peace”. He added that he was “sure that not everyone can be satisfied, but Serbia insists that the agreement cannot be such where one side is satisfied, and the other not”. Vucic stressed that it was “important to resolve the Serb-Albanian relationship once and for all.” When asked if he can guarantee that there will be no armed conflicts in Kosovo, Vucic said: “No one can ever fully guarantee this, but it is a great achievements of the talks that in the last four years no Serb has been killed in ethnic conflicts. The biggest problem is with the expelled, they are not allowed to return. We now must look ourselves in the eyes and we say what is real and what is objective – not to give away something that is ours, what we control”. Asked how much longer the Kosovo dialogue could last, Vucic said that it was a question of months. He also said that Serbia will be “stronger than ever in a few days”, and mentioned Russian MIGs, Russian and Serbian tanks.

Saudi Arabia to allow women to drive

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday said it would allow women to drive in the Kingdom, in the latest move in a string of social and economic reforms underway in the country. King Salman issued the decree, according to a royal court statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The royal decree will implement the provisions of traffic regulations, including the issuance of driving licenses for men and women. The decree orders the formation of a ministerial body to give advice on the practicalities of the edict within 30 days and to ensure the full implementation of the order by June 2018. The move was announced on television and also by the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The decree referred to the “negative effects of not allowing women to drive vehicles, and the positive effects envisaged from allowing them to do so” within the context of Islamic laws. The prohibition is considered a social issue in the Kingdom, as there is no actual law or religious edict that prohibits it. For years, the topic has been the center of extensive debate in government, media and social circles.

Condemnation not enough for Israeli violations against Palestinians

Saudi Arabia on Monday called on countries around the world to not just denounce Israel’s crimes and violations it commits in the occupied Palestinian territories but to exert more pressure to obligate it to end the occupation. The Kingdom stressed Israel’s accountability for its crimes against the Palestinian people and its violation of the principles of international legitimacy. Abdul Aziz Al-Wasil, Saudi Ambassador to the UN in Geneva, said his country considers the Israeli occupation “the longest occupation witnessed in modern history,” saying it caused the suffering of the Palestinian people who experience the consequences of this occupation and brutal aggression, and continuous violations of their human rights.

Global customers eyeing purchases of cutting-edge Russian military gear and apparel

Purchase applications for Ratnik military gear are coming in from abroad, and contracts are pending, Director General of the Central Scientific – Research Institute for Precision Machine Engineering Dmitry Semizorov said on Wednesday. “To date, there is interest in supplying the Ratnik gear abroad. The first supply requests have already rolled in, the corresponding documents have been drawn up, and the first contracts may be signed”, Semizorov noted. He added that there are plans to carry out a joint exercise for Russian and Egyptian landing troops, in which the Egyptians wished to participate in the Ratnik gear. If they like it, there will be supplied there as well”, Semizorov added. The Ratnik second-generation gear is a modular system that consists of 10 various subsystems and may be changed depending on the battle situation, climatic conditions and other parameters. The gear set is made up of more than 40 elements, including small arms, aiming systems, body armor and a GLONASS navigation set. The Ratnik second-generation gear has been supplied to the Ground Forces, Airborne-Landing Forces and marine units since 2016.

 

Trump ready for military option to devastate North Korea

On Monday, the White House spent a lot of time convincing the world that America had not declared war on North Korea, as claimed by the reclusive nation. The White House, however, rejected the notion it had declared war, and ripped North Korea’s talk of shooting down American planes as “absurd”. At a press briefing on Monday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, “We have not declared war on North Korea and, frankly, the suggestion of that is absurd. On Tuesday, Trump declared that the U.S. is “totally prepared” for “devastating” military action against North Korea should that be necessary, further ratcheting up tensions between the two nations. Trump said the time had come for the world “to isolate the North Korean menace” and its dictator Kim Jong Un for “behaving very badly” and “saying things that should never ever be said”. The U.S. president meanwhile also praised China for placing new restrictions on banking relationships with Pyongyang and enforcing new United Nations sanctions on Kim Jong Un’s regime. The U.S. President said, “I applaud China’s recent action to restrict its trade with North Korea. In particular, I applaud China for breaking all banking relationships with North Korea. I want to thank President Xi”. On Tuesday, the U.S. Treasury Department stepped up measures in the effort to choke off North Korea from the international financial system. The Treasury imposed new penalties on banks and individuals linked to the country’s financial networks. The U.S. designated eight North Korean banks and 26 North Korean nationals who act as representatives for the country’s banks, operating in China, Russia, Libya and the United Arab Emirates.

Kanu’s lawyers ask court to order Buratai to produce ipob leader kanu

Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, ‎Nnamdi Kanu, has been declared missing by his team of lawyers. The legal team led by Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, ‎said it had therefore, on Wednesday filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja praying for an order directing the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, to produce Kanu in court. Ejiofor disclosed ‎this in a text message sent to our correspondent on Wednesday in which he said that they just filed an application for prerogative order of habeas corpus commanding the Chief of Army Staff to produce Nnamdi Kanu in court. This, the suit stated was because, Kanu was last seen after soldiers, on September 14, invaded the IPOB leaders house in Afara-ukwu Ibeku, Umuahia Abia State, on a murderous raid, where life and mortar bullets were fired on unarmed and defenseless populace, leaving 28 persons dead and abducting many.

 

IPOB: Reps revisit devolution powers

The House of Representatives has resolved to revisit the devolution of power bill which failed during the constitutional amendment in June. The return to the bill is to curb agitations, such as the one by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. This was contained in a matter of urgent public importance raised by the leader of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Tuesday. Mr. Gbajabiamila noted that different agitations across the country have led to divergent views on the structures upon which the unity of Nigeria rests. Events of the last few weeks brought Nigeria close to the precipice,  but for the determination of Nigerians in their various show of commitment to the peace and unity of the country. Hence the urgent need for the intervention of the House of Representatives. Apart from revisiting devolution of powers bill, the House has also resolved to set up a strong committee to liaise with stakeholders across the six geopolitical zones for practical solutions to issues that threaten the unity of Nigeria.

PM Marković meets with leadership of Municipality of Rožaje

Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković met today with the leadership of the Municipality of Rožaje – the Mayor Ejup Nurković and the Speaker of the Municipal Parliament Husein Kurtagić. The Prime Minister said today that one of the most important priorities of Government is to develope the Northern region. Government, as he said, wants to cooperate with local governement in order to make life standards better and improve employment and business enviroment. Municipality’s managemen gave some ideas to Prime Minister in this regard and the Mayor of Rožaje added that make industries stronger will be a great opportunity of develope for all the area. The Finance Secretary of the Municipality of Rožaje Armin Mujević was there as well.
