Albanian Prime Minister, “Public accountability comes as a necessity”

Public accountability comes as a necessity, as we do not rule in front of an opposition that brings alternatives, ideas and a program to protect the interests of citizens. So stated in Parliament on Thursday, Prime Minister Edi Rama, arguing the necessity of developing a public accountability campaign. In a country where democracy works, he said, we should have a majority ruling and an opposition that demands accountability to the Assembly. “We are not required to account but simply throwing stones, clay balls and all sorts of llozhrash collected in the entire space of the despair of this opposition,” said Rama. He assured that “the campaign of accountability will be a lasting constancy of each year of this mandate, because we have undertaken to govern with people and for people”.

South Korea considers financing of possible inter-Korea projects: finance minister

According to a senior Blue House official who briefed local reporters on Monday, the USB contained an e-book and a short presentation illustrating Moon’s so-called “New Economic Map” initiative, which was initially made public last July in a speech in Berlin.South Korea’s Unification Ministry, which handles relations with the North, says the initiative aims at a “single market” for the two Koreas in order to “lay the foundation for unification” job creation and higher economic growth for both countries, reported JoongAng Ilbo.

The President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia Zoran Zaev and Thomas Gurber, the Director of the Geneva Center for Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), today signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the Reform Program of the Intelligence Services Sector of the Republic of Macedonia for the period 2017- 2020. “The Geneva Center for Democratic Control of the Armed Forces (DCAF) is an intergovernmental foundation in which the Founding Board, the Republic of Macedonia, has been a member since 2000. This foundation provides support to countries and international research and project factors in order to improve the governance and reforms of the intelligence and security sector, “said Prime Minister Zaev.

Stressing the exceptional importance of the Memorandum and the strategic partnership that DCAF has made after the changes to the Republic of Macedonia for the implementation of security sector reform and intelligence services and the institutions that have a mandate to oversee and control these services, Prime Minister Zaev noted: “This cooperation is crucial for us, above all, to restore the confidence of citizens in those security sector institutions, which in the past were marked as a symbol of the” captured state “we inherited as the main association for violating human freedoms and rights”, Prime Minister Zaev assessed.

The coalition has increasingly scaled back its activities in Iraq, focusing on training and advising Iraqi forces with the locals taking the lead in active combat missions.

Young-chan added that North Korea’s promise to invite outsiders to Punggye-ri reflected “Mr. Kim’s determination to actively and pre-emptively deal with the process of verifying denuclearization.”

Iran, Russia, Turkey hold talks on Syria situation

Moscow, Tehran and Ankara denounce attempts to divide Syria into parts as unacceptable, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Saturday following a meeting with his Iranian and Turkish counterparts Mohammad Javad Zarif and Mevlut Cavusoglu. “We agreed that attempts to split Syria on ethnic and religious grounds were totally unacceptable,” Lavrov said after the trio meeting on Syria. The three countries have been attempting to find a political solution to the Syrian conflict at talks that started last year in Astana, Kazakhstan, in competition with the US and UN-backed Geneva initiative. “We have stated that we will counter attempts to undermine our joint efforts and pointed out that the Astana process is stable,” he said. Lavrov said the recent US-led missile strikes on Syria “seriously aggravated the situation” and that statements about supporting the territorial integrity of Syria “are only words that, apparently, cover plans for reformatting the Middle East and plans for dividing Syria into parts.”

According to him, the attack “not only significantly raised tensions on the international stage but also considerably damaged the prospects for a political settlement.” Lavrov said Russia, Turkey and Iran need to help Syria’s government clear its country of terrorists. In a joint statement, the three foreign ministers said they have agreed to increase joint efforts to help achieve “a lasting political settlement in Syria”. The ministers “agreed to increase joint efforts aimed at facilitating the achievement of a lasting political settlement in Syria envisaged by” a UN Security Council resolution and “through full use of multi-level mechanisms of the Astana format.” They also “reaffirmed their strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of” the Syrian Arab Republic”.
