Security, immigration and employment are top French priorities.
Still a little time to act but specific requirements on the content of the reforms. This is in summary the conclusion of the Kantar Sofres Onepoint survey conducted for Le Figaro, on the French expectations of the government for 2018. Before expressing a clear opinion, the French wait to see on three points in particular. It is especially on the improvement of the purchasing power that they say they are the most attentive (51%), then on the decrease of the unemployment (43%) and finally on the decrease of the taxes and charges (40%). Three closely related themes that overlap more or less with the action taken by Emmanuel Macron since his election. The French people place at the top of the list the requirement to “facilitate the entry of young people into the labor market” (86%). An issue they just put in front of “strengthening anti-terrorism laws” and “lowering taxes for individuals”. On the eve of Macron’s visit to Calais, the demand to “fight against illegal immigration” comes fourth (75%), just ahead of toughening asylum rules for refugees”.
