If the Kosovo Assembly abolishes the law on the special court, the US will not prevent a Russian initiative in order to form a similar court in the UN. This was declared by US Ambassador in Kosovo Stephen Banks, who med with local authorities (including Kosovo Prime Minister Haradinaj), making clear “the consequences of the possible repeal of the law”. The possible Russian action would be based on Resolution 1244 and would “refer to UNMIK as the supreme ruling authority in Kosovo”.
