Demarcation is a finished process

Kosovo’s Foreign Minister, Behgjet Pacolli, will visit Montenegro today where he will meet senior government officials to discuss the agreement on the border delineation, the paper reports on its front page. Pacolli is scheduled to meet his Montenegrin counterpart. According to the Koha, Pacolli’s visit is not expected to change Montenegro’s position on the border demarcation agreement. Meanwhile, officials from the Office of Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj did not rule out a visit by Haradinaj to Podgorica in the near future. On other hand the paper recalls an earlier statement by Montenegro’s Foreign Minister, Darmanovic, who said that for Montenegro the border delineation with Kosovo is a finished process.

Skopje: Joint Committee on European Integration between Montenegro and Macedonia holds its third meeting

During the third meeting of the Joint Committee for application of the Agreement on Cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and Macedonia, which was held in Skopje, Minister of European Affairs Aleksandar Andrija Pejović and Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Macedonia for European Affairs Bujar Osmani assessed that the regional cooperation between the two countries is really succesful and it will be an example of preparation and implementation of important joint projects. They also agreeded that kind of cooperation will be useful for making European integration of their countries even faster. Minister Pejović said that reform activities in the area of rule of law area priority for Governement of Montenegro. Deputy Prime Minister Bujar Osmani indicated that the EU membership added that European integration is a strategical and really important goal for Macedonia and he said that the state administration is really committed in fullfilment of conditions for full-fledged membership. He underlined as well how much the example of Montenegro was important for Macedonia, who is getting ready for taking the same path.

Serbia and Montenegro “main candidates to join EU – in 2025”

European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker has sent a letter of intent to the European Parliament president and the chairperson of the Council of the EU. This happened on Wednesday, Tanjug is reporting today, citing the European Western Balkans website. In the letter, Juncker “announced that the European Commission plans to create the strategy for the successful accession of Serbia and Montenegro to the European Union by the end of next year, with a perspective of accession to the EU in 2025”. The website added that “in one of the ten priorities of the ‘Roadmap for a More United, Stronger and More Democratic Union’ Serbia and Montenegro are mentioned as the main candidates from the Western Balkans to join the European Union, whose strategy for successful accession should be created”.

Thaci: Demarcation with Montenegro only Kosovo’s issue

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci who is staying in Washington, during an interview with the Voice of America commented on the Agreement on border demarcation with Montenegro, signed by him in 2015 in his capacity as foreign Minister of Kosovo. Current version of the Agreement is being disputed by newly elected prime minister Ramush Haradinaj. Ratification of the border Agreement is one of the last criteria for Kosovo to get visa liberalisation with the EU. Thaci also said how it is in the interest of both countries, and the region, as well as for the EU to have peace between Kosovo and Serbia. Peace between Kosovo and Serbia means stability in the region.

PM Marković meets with DPM of Romania: Concrete cooperation in continuation of European integration process of Montenegro is agreed

Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment of Romania Gratiela Leocadia Gavrilescu had a meeting today and they agreed that their country have to start a new cooperation in the forthcoming phase of the European integration process of Montenegro. Prime Minister Marković thanked Romania for its support during the reachment of several goals of Montenegro, such as joining NATO, and welcomed the proposal of Deputy Prime Minister Gavrilescu that Romania contribute to our European path in the following period. He also informed romanian Deputy Prime Minister about the economical situation in its country and added that european integration its a priority for him and his country itself. Deputy Prime Minister Gavrilescu particularly highlighted the regional policy of Montenegro because it is a great achievement for the Balcan area.

PM Marković: Cooperation between Government and local community

Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković met today with the leadership of the Municipality of Žabljak and he congratulated with them for the management of Žabljak on the holiday. As the matter of facts the cooperation between Government and local institutions worked and that made succesful facing new challenges. The Mayor of Žabljak Veselin Vukićević thanked the Prime Minister and the Government for helping and undersating the need of the area of new projects to face new challenges. Prime Minister Marković reiterated that the Government’s strategic commitment is directed towards the Northern Region of Montenegro.

PM Marković: To finalise Business Zone Mojkovac in 2018

The Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković said today to the leadership of the Municipality of Mojkovac that the campaign to develop the area and the Northern Region has to be stronger in order to create new jobs and to offer a better life. He added that one of the priorities should be the opening of the Business Zone in Mojkovac next year and the plan is already done. Dealing with tourism, he said that it’s really important to improve the chance of the area but it is really crucial as well to protect the Tara river. Mayor of the Municipality of Mojkovac Dejan Medojević informed the Prime Minister about the progress they made in making the area better, expecially in building new roads.
