Albanian Minister of Economy, “No price increase, no cost for entrepreneurship”

Minister of Finance and Economy, Arben Ahmetaj said today that the inclusion in the VAT filing scheme for business running over 2 million Lek a year is not a new tax. During a media interview with the media in the process of informing small businesses included in the VAT filing scheme, Ahmetaj emphasized that by the end of December 2018 there will be no penalties for those businesses who have erroneously fulfilled the VAT declaration agency.

The Minister said that surveys were conducted all over Albania and the cost for business has been modest since the application of this scheme, so price increases are unjustified. He announced that there are 9900 small enterprises included in the declaration scheme, while 60 thousand businesses that make $ 2 million a year do not have the obligation to declare VAT.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi strongly condemned Israel’s fighter invasion against Syria and called it a clear violation of international law and in the direction of strengthening terrorism. Qasemi said undoubtedly this action of the Israel, when field developments are beneficial to the Syrian legal government, is to strengthen terrorist groups with the aim to deviate public opinion from Gaza catastrophe and its tens of martyrs and thousands of injures. The spokesman underlined again Iran’s full support for territorial integrity and national sovereignty of Syria and called on all countries and international community to avoid being indifferent towards such clear invasion against a UN member.

The U.S. Ambassador to Japan on Tuesday met the families of Japanese nationals abducted by North Korea agents decades ago to train its spies, just a week before Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is expected to raise the emotional issue at a summit with U.S. President Donald Trump. In an apparent nod to Japan’s concerns, U.S. Ambassador William Hagerty and his wife met abductees’ family members, including Sakie Yokota, whose daughter Megumi was snatched from a beach as a teenager 40 years ago. Hagerty told them their plight had not been forgotten, pledging to convey their stories to Trump ahead of his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. “I know that this issue is high on the list of priorities for both President Trump and Prime Minister Abe,” he told reporters.

The biggest trade powers engaged in a protectionist tit-for-tat will end badly for the entire global economy. But Cui’s not-so-veiled threat is something bigger. There, in June 1997, then-Japanese Prime Minister Ryutaro Hashimoto was giving a rather dry speech about economic cooperation. That was until the question-and-answer period, when he suggested Tokyo might sell Treasuries holdings if Washington didn’t reduce dollar-yen volatility. “Several times in the past we have been tempted to sell large lots of US Treasuries,” he said. The issue flared up anew in August 2011. Beijing was unhappy with then-US President Barack Obama’s perceived closeness to Taiwan. That had policy wags mulling creative ways to get the White House’s attention, including using Beijing’s vast dollar holdings as leverage. “Now is the time,” the state-run People’s Daily argued in an editorial on the topic, “for China to use its financial weapon to teach the US a lesson.”

BANGUI – The security situation was very confused in the night between Sunday 8 and Monday 9 April. Around 11:15 pm (local time), gunshot wounds were heard in the whole city. 

Soon there’ve been rumors among the citizens that that was an attempt of coup d’état against the residence of Faustin Archange Touadéra. Actually the headquarter of Egyptian and Jordanian peacekeepers (Campo Fidel) was attacked, which is found near the residence of the Head of the State.The attack lasted 30 minutes. The first hypothesis is that the assailants are the groups ex Seleka that responded to the operation Sukula, launched by Minusca in the PK5 on Sundays with the purpose to remove the groups of self-defence from the district, economic heart of the city. 

During this operation, three people have been killed and more than fifty wounds, among which a dozen of blue helmets. The Pk 5 is the neighborhood where the rebellion Seleka of Abdelaye Hissein started. The spokesman of Minusca, Vladimir Monteiro, was categorical: “the PK 5 will be cleaned up, the operation of Minusca will continue. The objective is to neutralize the gangs, these groups who call themselves vigilanteses but that are only criminals for us, people that live thanks to racket and extortion of money”

Erdogan assesses Kyrgyz-Turkish relations and their further development

During a conference at the presidential complex with Kyrgyz counterpart Sooronbay Jeenbekov, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey will help in the fight against FETO, which posed “a great threat to Kyrgyzstan“ and had tried to derail Turkey-Kyrgyzstan relations. Erdogan added that the visit of President Jeenbekov is the best answer to FETO’s efforts, adding that Jeenbekov will be much more vigorous against FETO and take the necessary measures promptly. Jeenbekov said that the two presidents had “constructive and fruitful talks.

Jeenbekov said that the development of partnership relations with Turkey is the priority direction of his politics. He added that a common goal is to develop the level of high strategic business association forward and to achieve success in this area. The two countries signed some very important agreements during his visit, as the agreement in the field of social security.

Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić and Head of the Delegation of the European Union and EU Special Representative to BiH Lars-Gunnar Wigemark met to discuss the possible solutions for the establishment of full cooperation between BiH security institutions and EUROPOL. Minister Mektić pointed out that that the stumbling block that prevented a full cooperation has been the lack of agreement between the police agencies on the location of the joint contact point for cooperation with EUROPOL. Another block was provided by the opposition of the Republika Srpska Ministry of Interior to place headquarters in the Directorate for Coordination of the police bodies of BiH. Mektić further stated that BiH can no longer delay the establishment of cooperation with EUROPOL. Indeed, given the existence of a European Center for the Fight Against Terrorism, it is important for BiH security agencies to be able to exchange information. Minister Mektić emphasized that the security of the electoral process and voting must be improved too, in order to reduce the possibilities of manipulation and thereby restore citizens’ confidence in fair and democratic elections.

Philippines’ president recognizes alliances with US, Japan

President Duterte recognized yesterday the importance of the Philippines’ military alliances with the United States and Japan through the years since World War II. “The brotherhood between the Philippines and the US has been forged by the second World War when the Filipinos and American soldiers fought side by side under the flag of freedom, and democracy still remains strong,” it’s possible to read in a note sent to the occasion of the commemoration of “the Day of Valor” at Mt. Samat in Bataan and read by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea before hundreds of guests, including war veterans, foreign dignitaries and local officials.

In the note, Duterte recognized the alliance between the Philippines and the US in terms of military and economic support and also noted how Japan has become a friend from being a foe during World War II. “The Japanese against whom our soldiers defended Bataan for many years now remain as one of our closest allies, a major trading partner and the largest provider of Official Development Assistance, which helps us in the fight against poverty and our quest for economic progress,” Duterte said. During the commemoration, Japanese Ambassador Koji Haneda also underscored the importance of the bilateral relations between the two countries as he offered an apology for the atrocities of World War II.

According to the agenda published today in the official website of the Assembly, the Committee on Economy and Finance discusses the draft law “On the ratification of the Financing Agreement between the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Italy and the European Commission for the 2014-2014 Adrien-Ionian Adriatic Interreg Program (ADRION) 2020 “. 

This program includes 31 regions and provinces, from 4 different EU countries, Italy, Slovenia, Greece, Croatia and 4 candidate (or potential candidate) countries Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia. 

The Committee on Economy and Finance will also discuss the “Annual Report of the Bank of Albania for 2017”.

The government accused of having no plan for the industrialists

The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) accused the government of having no plan to support the domestic products and industrialists in the country. During the inauguration ceremony of marble production town on Monday in Kabul, Khan Jan Alokozay, Deputy Head of ACCI said that the National Unity Government plays a double game with the investors adding that the government should make way for investment and capacity building in the country. According to him, since shut down of AISA (Afghanistan Investment Support Agency), the government has not distributed any land for industrialist. The inaugurated town includes 30 marble production houseworks which have been built on 300 acres of land with a cost of $50 million by the investors. The Commerce Ministry’s General Director for Private Sector Development said that the government welcomes and ensures to support the marble industry in the country.
