Israel, Palestinians battle for votes over Jerusalem resolution at UNESCO.

Israel is battling to prevent a public-relations victory for the Palestinians at the UNESCO. Executive Board in Paris, which is expected to disavow Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem on Independence Day. The Palestinians are playing a game with the Europeans and others by trying to use UN language that refers to east Jerusalem and, “in their own political determinations, they mean the whole of Jerusalem”, Baker said.Israel’s struggle for votes at UNESCO has put it at odds with Germany, which last year opposed a resolution on Jerusalem but this year is expected to either abstain or support the text.

Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday trust had eroded between the United States and Russia under President Donald Trump, as Moscow delivered an unusually hostile reception to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in a face-off over Syria. Tillerson started a meeting with Putin in the Kremlin after talking to his Russian opposite number Sergei Lavrov for around three hours. The Kremlin had previously declined to confirm Putin would meet Tillerson, reflecting tensions over the U.S. strike on Syria. Just as Tillerson sat down for talks with Lavrov earlier on Wednesday, a senior Russian official assailed the “primitiveness and loutishness” of U.S. rhetoric, part of a volley of statements that appeared timed to maximize the awkwardness during the first visit by a member of Trump’s cabinet.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday invited Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to the White House, in the first phone call between the two leaders since Trump took office. The White House said in a statement that the two discussed ways to advance peace throughout the Middle East, including a comprehensive agreement that would end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.Palestinians are concerned over the more favorable approach by Washington toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since Trump .Palestinian media underline the fact that the conversation between Trump and Abbas lasted some 20 minutes, and said Trump did not specifically discuss a two-state solution, the settlements, moving the U.S ambassy in Jerusalem.However, ahead of the call, Palestinian wanted a solution for the conflict. After the meeting between Donald Trump and the ambassador he says that: “I’m looking at two-state and one-state [solutions], and I like the one that both parties like… I can live with either one”, Trump said, causing consternation across the Arab world and in many European capitals.
