The bloc considered what happened in Ain al-Hilweh in terms of attempts by some to hit the security plan unanimously agreed upon by all the Palestinian factions and parties for the security of the camp and its environs, is a continuous and relentless crime against the mother cause, the Palestinian cause, and against Lebanon and its economy and civil peace.


Three wounded in al-Beddawi camp armed clash

Three people were wounded Wednesday when a personal dispute escalated into an armed clash at the al-Beddawi Palestinian refugee camp in north Lebanon, state-run National News Agency reported. The wounded were transferred to hospitals in Tripoli for treatment as the camp’s joint security committees were trying to contain the situation, NNA said. “A state of anxiety and tension is engulfing the camp”, the agency added, noting that the leaders of the Palestinian factions were holding a meeting at the headquarters of the Popular Committee.

Hundreds of Fatah Movement fighters are receiving military teachings and combat lessons in the Palestinian refugee camp of al-Rashidieh in the southern town of Tyre. “The activity which has been going on for a year now, is carried out with the cognition of the Lebanese Security Forces. The matter was thoroughly discussed during the recent visit of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to Beirut in February, through Palestinian Authority security chief Majid Faraj who spoke at length in that regard with General Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim and senior army intelligence officers,” added the source.

Cautious calm after fierce Fatah-Islamist clashes in Ain el-Hilweh

Fierce clashes erupted Sunday afternoon between the secular Fatah Movement and a number of hardline Islamist groups in the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain el-Hilweh. The fighting was focused on the Sifsaf-Briksat frontier on al-Fawqani street and the sounds of machineguns and rocket-propelled grenades echoed across the city of Sidon. Cautious calm engulfed the camp in the evening after the national and Islamist Palestinian factions reached a tentative ceasefire agreement under which the gunmen were supposed to be withdrawn from the streets.The clashes had renewed earlier in the day, leaving several people injured.
