Former President of the Republic of Yemen, President of the General People’s Congress, strongman Ali Abdullah Saleh congratulated the Yemeni people on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the independence day, when Yemen got freedom from Britain in 30th November 1967, calling the nation to move forward for more and more victories. “In the occasion of this great day, I would like to salute you our people, men, women, youth and elders, and through you, I would like to extend my solute to the heroes of the army, security and popular forces who are in front lines on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the independence day” leader Saleh told to the nation.

Airstrike near Damascus confirmed by Syrian news agency

The official Syrian news agency on Wednesday confirmed there was an airstrike near Damascus overnight, and blamed Israel, saying the attack was an attempt to bolster the moral of rebel fighters as they suffer the successes of regime forces. Arabic-language media had reported earlier that Israeli aircraft struck a Syrian military target as well as a Hezbollah weapons convoy. As with past claims of Israeli strikes, Israel did not immediately confirm or deny news of the purported attacks.

Regulation Law approved on Wednesday; second and third readings on the go

After a marathon session, the Knesset’s Constitution, Law, and Justice Committee approved the Regulation Law on Wednesday morning, paving the way for the second and third readings in the Knesset next week. The Regulation Law, crafted in response to demolition orders issued by the Supreme Court against the town of Amona in Samaria, would protect communities over the Green Line from ex post facto claims of ownership on their land by absentee landlords. If passed, the Regulation Law would allow verified owners claiming property rights to be compensated at 125% of the value of the real estate prior to the improvements created by the towns in question.

This is what emerged from the thematic session on “Education, the knowledge economy “, held on Tuesday, as part of the International Investment Conference “Tunisia 2020”. Panelist Hichem Omezzine, investment director at Actis, leading investor in growth markets across Africa, Asia and Latin America, said several issues in the field of education are common to emerging countries, including Tunisia, such as the inadequacy between training and employment requirements. “Professionals in the Tunisian educational sector must make efforts to create this complementary dynamic and to solve this problem of inadequacy,” he suggested. However, Omezzine noted that Tunisia is one of the most advanced countries in Africa, where the enrollment rate in higher education is above 30%, while the average in Africa is around 10%, which proves that Tunisia is well ahead of the rest of the African countries. In this context, he considered that Tunisia should open up more internationally, through the launch of co-operation projects in the field of education, notably with Europe, but also China, The United States and Africa.

French companies will have a much more direct dialogue with Tunisian government

Some thirty French businessmen met on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) members of the Chahed government to discuss ways to boost French investment in Tunisia. In a statement to TAP, French ambassador Olivier Poivre d’Arvor said French companies have not had such a direct dialogue with the Tunisian government before. The objective of the meeting is to bring French business leaders and members of the Tunisian government in direct contact, he said. According to the ambassador, it is an approach that allows asking questions about technical and administrative constraints. This meeting will be a milestone in the relationship between Tunisian and French investors, Olivier Poivre d’Arvor said. Minister of Trade and Industry Zied Laadhari said the meeting is an opportunity to listen to foreign investors and identify obstacles and difficulties. Laadhari reminded that 14% of the industries established in Tunisia are French, i.e. one third of foreign companies in Tunisia. “Fresh foreign investments in Tunisia will give ordinary citizen and unemployed young people hope for a better future,” he said. Eric Hayat, President Of the French-Tunisian Council of Entrepreneurs affirmed that the French Development Agency (AFD) will invest more than € 1 billion in Tunisia, i.e. about € 250 million per year.

NDGJM not ready for talks with the Federal Government

After attacking the 42-inch delivery line operated by NPDC, the NDGJM announced that it was not ready for talks with the Federal Government. NDGJM also warned government to be cautious of conflict merchants and political jobbers in the region and said: “Be wary of these political jobbers, whose stock in trade has always been using the struggle to profiteer. We have severally indicated how to end this and definitely not through political jobbers and conflict merchants. Twin attacks kill 7 soldiers and 6 militants

Seven soldiers, including two officers, and six militants were killed in twin pre-dawn attacks launched by fresh infiltrators near Jammu on Tuesday, coinciding with the takeover of General Qamar Javed Bajwa as new Pakistan Army chief across the border.   A group of militants launched a fidayeen (suicide) attack on the White Knight Corps of northern command’s strategic 16 Corps — one of the biggest Army formations meant for Jammu, the Pir Panjal and the Chenab valleys — located at Nagrota, around 20 km from Jammu city.

The Russian Emergencies Ministry’s airmobile hospital will be sent to Aleppo

Russian Emergencies Ministry’s press service announced that Russia will soon deploy mobile hospitals to Aleppo region to provide treatment to residents. According to Ministry’s press service, Under the instructions issued by the Russian President, the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s airmobile hospital and doctors will fly to Syria in the morning on November 30. The hospital will be deployed near of Aleppo to provide highly-qualified, high-tech medical assistance to residents of that Syrian city hit by artillery bombardments by terrorist groups’ gunmen. Among those who need emergency medical assistance are children, women and senior citizens who cannot get it to the full extent in Aleppo whose infrastructure has been destroyed and hospitals damaged. The Ministry also confirmed that Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu issued an order to swiftly send a special task medical team and a field hospital to  Aleppo. It comes as the Russian military announced a breakthrough in Syria’s operation to retake the militant-held part of Aleppo. Tens of thousands of civilians, who were previously kept by armed groups as human shields, are now in the government-controlled part of the city and require supplies and medical attention.
