Syrian rebels launch second Damascus attack in three days.

Syrian rebels stormed a government-held area in northeastern Damascus on Tuesday for the second time in three days, sources on both sides said, pressing the boldest assault on the capital by opposition fighters in several years. The rebel groups have launched the assault from their Eastern Ghouta stronghold to the east of the capital. Wael Alwan, the spokesman of rebel group Failaq al Rahman, told Reuters: “We launched the new offensive and we restored all the points we withdrew from on Monday”.

During the meeting chaired by King Salman, the Cabinet renewed Saudi Arabia’s condemnation of Syrian air attacks on UN humanitarian aid convoys, that led to the suspension of assistance in the country. The Cabinet also expressed concern on war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the regime,ita allies and militias against Syrian people. Moreover the EU on Monday imposed sanctions against four senior Syrian military officials accused of using chemical weapons on civilians and also targeted Syrian companies accused of manufacturing them. The four military officials will be banned from travelling to the EU. In fine EU sanctions also include an oil embargo, restrictions on investments, a freeze of Syrian central bank assets and a ban on exports of equipment and technology that could be used against civilians

EU-GCC forum to explore dialogue.

To mark the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome on Wednesday the EU-Gulf Cooperation Council Forum on the achievements of EU integration will be held in Riyadh, that will begin with a welcome address by the GCC assistant secretary-general for political negotiations, followed by speeches from ambassadors of countries that founded EU. Moreover EU ambassador D’urso will address the gathering. He also said that GCC member countries are ideal partners for EU members for their stability and economic viability and added that EU is interested in the affairs of neighboring countries such as Syria,Yemen,Iraq and Lybia. In this occasion the Saudi envoy said reforms to diversify the economy and improve education will have a positive effect on the countries of the region.

Israel arrests head of Turkish humanitarian group In Gaza for financing Hamas.

Israel on tuesday announced the arrest of the head of a Turkish humanitarian group in Gaza for giving terror financing to Hamas’ military wing in an announcement which could have broader impact on Israel-Turkey relations. It was further discovered during the investigation that, beginning in 2012, Murtaja served as the Gaza Strip coordinator of TİKA. TİKA works on behalf of the Turkish government to advance humanitarian projects in the Gaza Strip. The investigation showed that Murtaja deceived TİKA by misusing the organization’s resources and funds, which were intended for substantial humanitarian projects in the Gaza Strip, by diverting them to Hamas’s military wing. This fraud was carried out in collusion with the senior ranks of Hamas in Gaza, headed by Ismail Haniyeh. Murtaja gave financial help, loas and many funds were used or the Hamas military wing was used, inter alia, to build a facility to train Hamas navy commandos, as well as to purchase equipment and weapons. Finally Murtaja gave a lot of information but a lot of situation aren’t still clear.

Two dead in Bayelsa cult clash.

The Bayelsa Police Command on Monday said a teenager died during a cult clash on Saturday in Amarata area of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa capital. Asinim Butswat, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed that only one person died in the clash, the second person died at a robbery scene. The command had intensified patrol in the affected area to prevent further breakdown of law and order. The incident threw the area into pandemonium as residents witnessed the fight for supremacy between the two rival cult groups. A resident said that the groups used guns, cutlasses, axes and other dangerous weapons during the clash. The clash (which left two teenagers dead trough gunshot) lasted for an hour, without police or security agencies responding to distress calls. One of the teenage boy died at the federal medical centre where he was taken, the second one died durign the clash

Egypt's Chief of staff says his country persuaded Haftar to repudiate grave-digging crimes.

The Egyptian Chief of Staff, Mahmoud Hijazi, said Tuesday that he and Khalifa Haftar had prolonged discussions over a couple of days aiming at convincing the latter to disavow and apologize for the crimes of exhuming the bodies from Ganfouda graves, and killing and torturing civilians and women by his militias in Benghazi. Hijazi told Haftar, that in case of no-disavowing of exactions, he’ll be consider as terrorist organisation. Egypt seems to have a preference for LNA and General Hafter as Libyan counterpart, indeed, last month, Egypt has refused to meet the Seraij, the Libyan President in Tripoli.

Kanaan: Bogus tax lists behind termination of legislative session

MP Ibrahim Kanaan, chairman of the parliamentary finance and budget committee, said on Monday that the last legislative session was affected by leaks of fake tax lists.  The MP, who held a press conference today, said that throughout the period of debate on the salary scale, no one had expressed reservations about the taxes mentioned, noting that if MPs had changed their minds, then they should have expressed it publically. Kanaan said that approval of the salary grid was suspended at this time, on the pretext of separating the grids related to the military from other public officials.

Minister of Finance highlights support for approval of wage scale.

Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil stressed during a press conference on Monday that his political party has supported the approval of the wage scale several years ago. The minister noted that citizens had the right to express their fears, especially that their experience with one administration after the other has never been encouraging. “I salute those who have protested for fear of their future, but I warn against those who try to exploit these protests and pave the way for sabotage of the salary scale”, he said.

 

 

Syrian UNHCR envoy: Israel aiding Al-Qaida-linked terrorists.

Israel is helping terrorist groups in Syria including al-Qaida splinter group al-Nusra, Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations Human Rights Council Hussam Edin Aala charged in Geneva on Monday as he condemned the Israeli Air Force strike last Friday against military targets in his country. After the military aggression by Israel inside Syrian land is a proof of the support Israel provides to terrorist groups. According to Syria this is an act that violate the charter of the United Nation, international law and UN Security Council resolutions. Israel defends itself by saying that the airstrike was necessary to stop the flow of weapons to Hezbollah. Anyway the UNHRC is expected to pass a resolution at the end of this week that echoes that calls. It does so at every session.

Syrian militia leader killed in alleged Israeli drone strike.

At approximately 4 p.m. on Sunday, a militia commander loyal to the Bashar Assad regime was killed in an alleged Israeli drone strike in Syria. The drone fired in Syria, to Damasco.The U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the alleged Israeli strike was carried out near the town of Khan Arnaba on the Syrian Golan Heights. We know that al-Sayed was affiliated with President Bashar Assad’s regime and commanded armed militias operating on the Syrian Golan Heights.  Al-Sayed was assassinated after apparently planning and trying to carry out terrorist attacks against Israel, with the support of his Iranian colleagues and his militia fighters. According to the Prime Minister Lieberman he said that ISrael hasn’t got any interest to intervening in the civil war in Syria, going against Russia and Assad. Israel wants only to prevents weapons to Hezbollah. Anyway he Russians are still furious.
