Soldiers repel attack on Borno village, accuse residents of conniving with Boko Haram

On wednesday a douzens of Boko Haram terrorists did try to attack for the first time Magumari village, 52 kilometres away from Maiduguri, Borno State capital. Nigerian soldiers had repelles what could have tourned into a massacre. The wednesday attack came right after Boko Haram terrorists released a video in which armed men execute three man accused of spying them. The mission in the village was to kill everyone, but soldiers managed to avoid the tragedy fiting off the insurgents. Mr Usman ( Nigerian army’s spokesman) said that residents of the village must have helped the attackers, claiming that it wouldn’t have been possible in any other ways. Moreover, most of the killed Boko Haram fighters were faces known to many members of the agrarian community. “It is imperative that all communities in the North East especially Borno State, should fully cooperate with the military and the Security agencies by exposing Boko Haram terrorists in their respective towns and villages”, Sani Usman added.

A new video by Boko Haram has been released and anonymously sent to Premiumtimestuesday morning. The video One man is beheaded by the militants, the two others are shooted, after being asked ( in Hausa) to identify themselves. The men claimed they were sent to infiltrate the sect by people close to the military. Subsequently, the video cut into where the three were taken to a nearby bush and brutally executed. The video is the first from the sect this years, it has appeared three months after AbubakarShekau ( Boko Haram Leader) refuted MrBuhari’s speech in which he said that “the group had been crushed”. “We are safe. We have not been flushed out of anywhere. And tactics and strategies cannot reveal our location except if Allah wills by his decree”,MrShekau said.

Seven Boko Haram suspected terrorists have been arrested for the abduction and the killing of five foreigners in Kebbi state in 2011. The terrorists are accused too of having kept in Sambisa forest for 10 days and then killed seven other foreigners in Borno State in 2013. After taking their plea, lawyer for the suspects, AbdulkarimAudu, prayed the court to issue an order for the transfer of the suspects to Kuje Maximum prison. Audu’s clients had remained under the custody of operatives of the State Security Service since their arrest, therefore he asked the court to allow his clients’s access to their family. The prosecution counsel LabaranMagaji did not object this request, but he told the court he could not guarantee the transfer of the defendants to any other custody. The presiding judge, John Tsoho, ruled that the defendants be allowed to stay in prison custody till the determination of their matter. The judge noted that the Nigerian government had all the apparatus necessary to ensure the safety of every Nigerian, including the defendants. The matter was adjourned till April 11 for continuation of trial.

Nigerian troops kill two female suicide bombers, 211 Boko Haram captives rescued

Two teenage female suicide bombers have been shot dead by troops as they tried to sneak into the city of Maiduguri. The two were wearing explosive vests under their clothes when they were shot dead Saturday night. It resoned a deafening explosion in Maiduguri, but it was only the result of the detonation of the bomb. Apart from the two girls ( who where in their late teens) no one else died nor has been injuried. In the same day, Nigeria Army has shot down a Boko Haram kingpin too, in this operation 211 captive civilians has been rescued. Suicide bombing by teenage girls it’s a typical Boko Haram strategy strategy. Since two years over 200 such teenage girls have lost their lives helping Boko Haram to attack both military and civil populations around north-east Nigeria and less than ten of them survived the mission. One of the girls that recently reneged on the mission by refusing to detonate her explosive told security operatives that they are made to believe that the explosives would not harm them. She said they were told that they would disappear to a safe haven where they would be married to handsome husbands of their choice and then live an eternal life of happiness.

Nigerian and Cameroonian troops have carried out operation to weed out Boko Haram terrorists

Nigerian and Cameroonian troops have carried out another joint operation to weed out Boko Haram terrorists along Nigeria and Cameroon border. Durign the two days joint operation (led by Col Dourai and Lt Col Mohaman of the Cameroonian Defence Forces) troops of the two countries cleared Siyara, Kote, Sigawa and proceeded to Bulabundibe towns. While conducting the operation the troops came in contact with Boko Haram terrorists and neutralised many of them, apprehended two others, while many others escaped with gunshot wounds. The Troops recovered seven Dane guns, five Boko Haram terrorists’ flags, four vehicle tyres,two motorcycles and vehicle spare parts. At the conclusion of the clearance operation, the team leader, Col Dourai, stated that the operation was carried out to secure both countries’ borders from the menace of the Boko Haram terrorists.

Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency says troops have gunned down a suicide bomber at a transit camp for refugees from Boko Haram in the northeastern city of Maiduguri. The Saturday attack is the sixth in three weeks in the Nigerian city that was the birthplace of the Islamic extremist uprising that has killed more than 20 000 people in seven years. Security forces have foiled most of the attacks. Boko Haram has recently stepped up attacks after a months-long lull.

Two Boko Haram men suspected of procuring drugs for libido enhacement shot by troops

Nigerian troops fighting the terrorist Boko Haram group in the north-east state of Borno on Sunday intercepted two suspected members of the sect believed to be on a mission to procure drugs for libido enhancement, and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases and other illnesses. A military insider told the two men were intercepted by men of the 112 Task Force Battalion as they tried to cross from Anadawa village to Minari on motorcycle. The troops, who mounted a roadblock at Kasasewa village, trailed the suspected terrorists to Anadawa and quickly opened fire on them after realising they were fully armed.

Nigerian Army wounded 5 and killed 7 Boko Haram soldiers

Seven Boko Haram insurgents were killed while several others wounded yesterday evening during an encounter with troops of 119 Battalion Group of 8 Division of the Nigerian Army deployed in Kangarwa, one of the villages in the hinterland of northern Borno. A statement on Sunday from the director army public relations officer, Col Sani Usman, said the insurgents who had earlier on Tuesday attacked an isolated village in Dasa, were fiercely engaged by the troops forcing them to hastily retreat in disarray after sustaining casualties.
Five soldiers who sustained injuries during the offensive have been evacuated and are currently receiving treatment in the hospital. Troops are still on aggressive pursuit of the fleeing insurgents.

Boko Haram’s attack repelled by Nigeria Air Force and Nigerian Army Officials

On Monday night, one Nigerian soldier was confirmed dead after a Boko Haram attack. Thirteen of the insurgents were also killed after the attackers were repelled, the army said. Three other soldiers were injured in the attack on ground troops at Kangarwa Village in northern Borno State. The attack was repelled by a combination of Nigeria Air Force aircraft and Nigerian Army officials.

The Boko Haram army lost 46 soldiers

The Nigerian army has lost almost 46 soldiers to Boko Haram insurgents, including high profile lieutenant- colonel Abu Ali. He and his soldiers were ambushed by Boko Haram fighters who killed over 40 soldiers and lost 14 of their men. An official said the attack occurred at Mallam Fatori, a major Boko Haram stronghold on Friday. Abu Ali was hit by several bullets as he and his men fought to repel the insurgents. As the fight against the insurgents gets tougher, the Army have also raised the alarm over suspected sabotage by some highly-placed elders in northeast who are aiding the insurgents.
