Azerbaijani president meets with heads of DCNS and CIFAL Group in Paris

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan IlhamAliyev has met with Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DCNS Hervé Guillou in Paris. The sides hailed cooperation between Azerbaijan and DCNS, which started in 2004. The implementation of a number of projects to build vessels of various designs and purposes was emphasized at the meeting. Good prospects for cooperation with Baku shipyard were highlighted. Azerbaijani president has also met with Chairman and CEO of CIFAL Group Gilles Remy in Paris.

Ilham Aliyev receives OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan IlhamAliyev has today received the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Stephane Visconti, Igor Popov, Richard Hoagland and Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk. Russian co-chair  said despite the fact that the OSCE Minsk Group includes new co-chairs from the US and France, the MG co-chair countries’ position on peaceful settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unchanged. He added  the co-chair countries want to launch substantial peace talks as soon as possible.

Azerbaijan’s GDP to grow in mid-term

The Azerbaijani economy will grow by 2-3 percent per year in the medium term, Chief of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Mission to Azerbaijan Mohammed El Qorchi, who is on a visit in Baku, said today. In 2017, the situation in Azerbaijan’s economy will be better than in 2016, according to him, but certain difficulties will remain in the country’s economic life, caused by the sharp decline in oil prices.

 

 

The Russian foreign minister stresses need to reduce mistrust between Armenia, Azerbaijan

There is a need to reduce the mistrust between Armenia and Azerbaijan to start a meaningful process over the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said. He made the remarks addressing a press conference following the talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov in Moscow March 6. He also said that during the meeting they discussed possible ways of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He added that a couple of the key issues of the Karabakh settlement, which were discussed in Moscow, still require extra efforts.

The Zionist regime is trying weaken the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan

Speaking at a meeting with visiting Azeri President IlhamAliyev in Tehran, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution underlined that enemies are upset about the cordial relations between Iran and the Azerbaijan Republic.“The evil Zionist regime is trying more than all other enemies to weaken the brotherly relations between Iran and Azerbaijan and, (so) in return, the cordial ties (between Tehran and Baku) must be safeguarded”, Imam Khamenei said. The Leader mentioned common religion as the most important factor that creates a sense of closeness and relationship between the people of the two country. “Iran and Azerbaijan have always been, and still are, close together and the fact that about one million Azeri people traveled to Iran last year is just an example of these cultural and religious ties and commonalities” have said the Ayatollah Khamenei.

13th Summit of ECO, Aliyev said: the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan are based on mutual support.

The 13th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) kicked off in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad on Wednesday. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan IlhamAliyev attended the event. He said Azerbaijan has good relations with countries that are members of this organization and is strengthening economic ties with its partners on both bilateral and multilateral levels. President Aliyev stressed that the friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan are based on mutual trust and support. He also made some remarks on the consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Armenia’s ignoring international law, noting that Pakistan is one of the 10 countries that have recognized the Khojaly genocide officially.

Ilham Aliyev meets Italy’s economic development minister

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with Minister of Economic Development of the Italian Republic Carlo Calenda. President Aliyev hailed Italy`s active participation in the Third Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council. The president described this fact as another evidence of rapid development of cooperation in various areas, saying it is also very important in terms of successful implementation of the Southern Gas Corridor project. Calenda thanked President Aliyev, on behalf of the Italian government, for the implementation of TAP project, which he said is of vital significance to his country. President Aliyev and Calenda discussed prospects for Azerbaijan-Italy cooperation in various areas, including energy and agriculture. Italy`s importing large volumes of oil and energy products to Azerbaijan was underlined at the meeting.

Ilham Aliyev attends SGC Advisory Council meeting

President of Azerbaijan IlhamAliyev participated in the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council Third Ministerial Meeting that kicked off in the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku. The meeting brought together the energy ministers and representatives of various organizations from the Southern Gas Corridor member-states, as well as MarosSefcovic, vice-president for Energy Union, co-chair of SGC Advisory Council. He noted that Azerbaijan has established close cooperation with the European Commission for the implementation of SGC project.

Azerbaijan FM: Karabakh conflict undermines peace, stability in region and economic development of the South Caucasus region

The existence of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict undermines peace, security, stability and comprehensive economic development of the South Caucasus region, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister ElmarMammadyarov said. He made the remarks Feb. 22 in Ankara at the international conference “Khojaly Genocide, Crimes Against Humanity and Terrorism”. The minister said Azerbaijan supports peace and willing to resolve the conflict by peaceful means and he underlined Azerbaijan’s efforts aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the region.
