The US Secretary of State listened Foreign Minister about the fight to terrorism, economic cooperation, the security. Americans want to get over current situation, increasing the commercial exchanges. United States appreciated the role of Algeria in the fight to terrorism, as said the Algerian Ambassador to Washington. Algerian Minister remembered the situation in Libya, and Rex Tillerson said that Algeria will play a key role in the crisis. Ramtane Lamamra said that Americans don’t want to create instability in Algeria, because they know what is happened in Syria, they support a keeping of status quo.

The tension rises between Algeria and Morocco because of a diplomatic incident. Moroccan authorities accused the Algerian Director General of Foreign Minister to have hit a Moroccan diplomat who has been hospitalized. Algerian authorities denied the fact and said that Morocco invented the fact because of the situation in the Sahara region. Algerians said that this is a new provocation from the Moroccan government, provocation to whom Algerian authorities are used to. The ambassador of Morocco has been summoned by Algerian Foreign Minister, and the government said that this provocations are unacceptable. Foreign Minister said that the incident has been brought to the UN Secretary-General.

The European Union and Algeria adopt their Partnership Priorities

The EU and Algeria adopted their shared Partnership Priorities at the Association Council. The cooperation concerns political dialogue, energy and socio-economic development. Some of these priorities will be the subject of technical and financial cooperation, which will be implemented within the framework of the 2018-2020 financial programming.

At the end of two days of talks on Libya, Tunisia, Egypt and Algeria have unveiled a fresh initiative to further political reconciliation in the country, but say any solution must be based on the December 2015 Skhirat agreement. The move follows the failure of Egyptian-hosted attempts at a meeting between Presidency Council head FaiezSerraj and the eastern military supremoKhalifaHafter. The three countries hope to organise a successful meeting between the pair. The ‘Tunis Declaration’, signed by Egyptian foreign minister SamehShoukry, Algerian Minister for Maghreb, African and Arab Affairs AbdelkaderMessahel and Tunisian foreign minister KhemaiesJhinaoui, also rejected foreign intervention or the use of force in finding a resolution and called for a unified Libyan military operating alongside the country’s various state institutions. At a press conference in Tunis today, the three said their countries would “step up efforts to achieve comprehensive reconciliation”. However, they added, ultimately “a viable settlement can only be achieved by the Libyan people themselves”. They also announced Algiers would host a further tripartite summit to further explore remedies to the crisis in Libya. No date was given. Tunisian president BejiCaidEssebi joined the deliberations for part of them.

Egypt-allied Haftar met Al-Sarraj in Cairo, as part of initiatives aimed at resolving Libya's crisis

A military leadership will never take hold of Libya” Belhaj told Middle East Eye. “Haftar has no chance at ruling this country at all and the coming days will attest to this”.Belhaj, who heads the al-Watan Party, is based in Tripoli where the UN-brokered Government of National Accord (GNA) has held power since December 2015. But the GNA’s authority faces huge challenges. Egypt-allied Haftar and the head of the Presidential Council of the GNA, Fayez Al-Sarraj, met in Cairo earlier this week as part of a series of Tunisian-Algerian-Egyptian initiatives aimed at resolving Libya’s crisis. Although Sarraj and Haftar refused to meet face-to-face, they agreed to honor a plan to create a joint committee to negotiate reconciliation and elections by February 2018, despite lingering tensions. The discussions revolved around forming a mini-government that would have a unified military council headed by Haftar in cooperation with military officers from all across Libya. The initiative reportedly gathered support from Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt, three countries that have over the past months been involved in mediation efforts focused on launching a Libya-Libya dialogue for national reconciliation. Despite the combined pressure from Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt to resume peace talks, the political process is unlikely to move forward in the foreseeable future because on the one hand Haftar is convinced he doesn’t need a deal and the other side is very fragmented.

First edition of Mediterranean Meetings in Human Resources: over 700 are going to partecipate

Over 700 business leaders, businessmen, human resources managers, academics and students from Tunisia, Algeria, France, Canada and several African countries are taking part in the 1st edition of the Mediterranean Meetings on Human Resources, held on November 4-5 in Yasmine Hammamet, President of the meeting Maha Chehata Meddeb told TAP. Under the theme of : “HR Prospective: Context and Challenges,” the event is organised by human resources managers in partnership with the Tunisian Institute of Strategic Studies (ITES). The goal is to develop a strategy to promote the management of human resources which will be submitted to ITES to serve as a reference in its prospective studies on Tunisia in 2025. ITES Director Hatem Ben Salem laid emphasis on the need for Tunisia to build a forward-looking vision on employment, investment, business, and human resources management taking into account the major transformations facing jobs and the markets in the next decades, as 50% of the current jobs will disappear he said by reference to several studies.
