Police arrested the Democratic Party's chieftain for allegedly criticising Kogi governor

Abdulrahman Mohammed, a leading opposition figure, chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi state, has been arrested and spent 4 days in custody for criticisimg Governor Yahaha Bello. Femi Falana, a human right lawyer, reported that Mohammed was arrested by police officers who kept him in “illegal detention”. Governor Bello rejacted the allegations, and said he “didn’t order the arrest of anyone”. Police authorities did’t provide any details for Kogi’s police spokeperson, but Bello Governor’s spokesman , Gbenga Olorunpomi, denied any president’s involvement in Mohammed incarceration, saying in a message that “Governor Bello is very much aware of the law and the procedures and will not flout them for any reason”.
