A bomb detonated Jan. 21 in Tripoli near the Italian embassy and just behind the shuttered Egyptian embassy, according to security officials, Reuters reported. The area has been blocked off by security forces and no casualties have been reported. Italy reopened its embassy earlier in January, making it the first Western country to do so. Libya is a country divided but as the country’s political turmoil has deepened, its economic and security circumstances have somewhat improved.
