While the Head of the PC, Fayez Al-Sirraj, was preparing for a joint press with the Head of the UNSMIL and the UN envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, the PC member Fathi Al-Mijibri, with the help of his bodyguards, tried to force his way into the room where Kobler and Al-Sirraj were having a closed meeting. Al-Mijibri used force along with his bodyguards in order to have a chance to talk to Kobler about his recent ordinances, which were repealed by Al-Sirraj, but he was prevented from entering the room, thus leading to his attempt to storm into it with his bodyguards’ assistance. Al-Mijibri was appointed as the Head of the PC for a few days while Al-Sirraj was attending his daughter’s lavish wedding party in London. Between December 28-31, Al-Mijibri issued a number of ordinances to make the best advantage of his temporary post, appointing some figures close to him in key ministries and state sovereign posts before Al-Sirraj had rendered them all invalid as they were issued without consensus.
