Prime Minister Zaev visiting Kromberg and Schuber

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Coordination with the Economic Departments, Kocho Angjushev, accompanied by the Mayor of the Municipality of Bitola, Natasha Petrovska and the MPs Aleksandar Kiracovski and Goran Milevski, were in the a visit to the company Kromberg and Schubert working in the industrial zone Zabeni. Within the framework of the working visit of the company, the Prime Minister, government representatives and MPs were in the tour of the production plants where they had an opportunity to get acquainted with the production processes and the way of operation of the factory. After the tour, Prime Minister Zaev and Deputy Prime Minister Angjushev held a working meeting with Uwe Schilig, technical director and Tanja Miliskovic, commercial director of the company Kromberg and Schubert.

At the meeting, information on the volume and performance of the international company was presented, which has been operating for several years in the Republic of Macedonia and employs over 6,000 workers from the Bitola region. From the presentation it was concluded that this company relates 1/3 of domestic suppliers from its total purchases. Such cooperation with domestic companies was welcomed and the company’s directors were encouraged to apply for the measures from the Economic Growth Plan that refer to support for increased cooperation with domestic companies.

Zaev Thomas Gurber signed a memorandum on the reform program

The President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia Zoran Zaev and Thomas Gurber, the Director of the Geneva Center for Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF), today signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of the Reform Program of the Intelligence Services Sector of the Republic of Macedonia for the period 2017- 2020. “The Geneva Center for Democratic Control of the Armed Forces (DCAF) is an intergovernmental foundation in which the Founding Board, the Republic of Macedonia, has been a member since 2000. This foundation provides support to countries and international research and project factors in order to improve the governance and reforms of the intelligence and security sector, “said Prime Minister Zaev.

Stressing the exceptional importance of the Memorandum and the strategic partnership that DCAF has made after the changes to the Republic of Macedonia for the implementation of security sector reform and intelligence services and the institutions that have a mandate to oversee and control these services, Prime Minister Zaev noted: “This cooperation is crucial for us, above all, to restore the confidence of citizens in those security sector institutions, which in the past were marked as a symbol of the” captured state “we inherited as the main association for violating human freedoms and rights”, Prime Minister Zaev assessed.

Visit of the Minister of Foreign affairs Nikola Dimitrov to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

On April 20, 2018, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov, paid a working visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, within which he had a meeting with his host, Foreign and European Affairs Minister Jean Asselborn. The ministers expressed satisfaction with the mutual efforts to intensify the political dialogue in the past months, resulting in two working visits to the foreign ministers of the Republic of Macedonia and Luxembourg in both directions. Opinions were exchanged about the potential and mutual interest in the function of the further development of the overall bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the GV Luxembourg.

Minister Dimitrov briefed his host on the latest development of the internal political situation, the reform agenda, the regional cooperation, as well as the efforts to find a compromise solution to the bilateral dispute with the Republic of Greece. During the visit, Minister Dimitrov also met with the Speaker of the Luxembourg Parliament, Mars Di Bartolomeo and members of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign and European Affairs, Defense, Cooperation and Migration, and presented the opportunities to interested companies in the Economic Chamber of Luxembourg. for investing in the Republic of Macedonia.

Macedonian prime minister meets with EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Mogherini

The President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, accompanied by Vice President and Minister of Defense, Radmila Sekerinska, Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Bujar Osmani, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Dimitrov and State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Viktor Dimovski , met Monday with the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy and the Deputy EC President, Federica Mogherini, chaired by EU Ambassador to the Republic of Macedonia, Samuel Zbogar. High Representative of the EU Mogherini said at the meeting that the main message that she conveys is congratulations to Prime Minister Zaev personally to the Government, the opposition, the Parliament and the citizens, for the received clear recommendation to start Macedonia’s EU membership talks.

This, as High Representative Mogherini said, is the result of a well-done job in overcoming the political crisis achieved in the reform process, constructive policies with all political actors and the opposition, good neighborly relations, and that all these processes should continue through implementation of the reforms and the further unification of all, around the national and strategic goals of the state. In a press release, EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Mogherini announced the EU’s assessment that the Republic of Macedonia has been restored on the European Union’s path, unlike a year ago, that a great deal has gone by, that the pure recommendation is the result of the joint work and that the government and the opposition should retain the forces to work together in the next steps.

Zaev-Gerberich: Germany supports Macedonia’s bid to join NATO and EU

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, met with Thomas Gerberich, Ambassador of the Republic of Germany to the Republic of Macedonia.The meeting welcomed the reform steps of the Republic of Macedonia and the good neighborly relations that lead to the realization of the strategic Euro-Atlantic goals of the country. German Ambassador Gerberich conveyed support from the Republic of Germany for the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of the Republic of Macedonia, informing that Macedonia has the majority support from the German Bundestag for joining the country in the European Union. Ambassador Gerberich announced that the German Bundestag MPs returned to Germany with positive impressions of the visit to Macedonia for the constructive policies through which the issues important for the progress of the Republic of Macedonia are being addressed.

Macedonia tops list of energy reform implementation in the region

Macedonia is highly ranked in terms of energy reforms implemented by the Government and the Ministry of Economy. In the Report on Sustainable Development of the Energy Community, dedicated to the countries of the Western Balkans, the Republic of Macedonia is ranked first in the region in terms of progress in the implementation of energy reforms. Macedonia has the highest ratings on the list of six Western Balkan countries, in the area of energy efficiency, renewable energy, environmental protection, transparency and investment conditions in the field of energy.

Thanks to the dynamics of the energy reforms, Macedonia this year ranks first, and in the Report for Sustainable Development of the European Energy Community for June 2017, it was ranked in the group of countries with significant stagnation in relation to sustainable energy reforms. By the end of March, the Macedonian government approved the new Energy Law, proposed by the Ministry of Economy, and the adoption of this law mainly has an economic impact, since it marks the end of the monopoly and the granting of the right to choose consumers, which means that small and medium enterprises, as well as households, will have the right to choose a supplier of electricity and natural gas.

Meeting of APPRM Angjushev and MTV Sugareski with Mihajlovic

Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia in charge of Economic Affairs Dr. Kocho Angjushev together with Minister of Transport and Communications Goran Sugareski met today in Belgrade, R. Serbia with Dr. Zoran Mihailovic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Construction, Infrastructure and Transport discussed the key infrastructure projects that connect the two countries. At the meeting an agreement was reached to facilitate all procedures for the transfer of goods and passengers at the border crossings.

Deputy Prime Minister Angjushev said that the parts have reached an agreement first in the region to facilitate all procedures for the transfer of goods and passengers at border crossings. He added that it is important to say that diplomats have found understanding within their cooperation to establish a customs office in Tabanovce, at the railway crossing between Macedonia and Serbia at the railway crossing. The countries will fund such a station jointly and at the same time ask for funds from the Western Balkans Investment Fund, which has already been discussed. Finally he stated they agreed to start such projects as soon as possible in the interests of the citizens of both countries: he thinks that in 2019 they can start building.

Investment opportunities in Macedonia at the annual investment summit in Dubai

Economy Minister Kreshnik Bekteshi, from the 9th to 11th of April, participates at the eighth edition of the Annual Investment Summit in Dubai, UAE, under the auspices of His Majesty Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Prime Minister of Dubai. 

It is an annual gathering that is the leading global platform for foreign investments, whose annual theme is “Linking Developed and New Foreign Direct Investment Markets – Partnership for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development”, which brings together several tens of thousands of participants from public and private sector from over 100 countries, including representatives of ministries and government scientific public, chambers of commerce, industrial and economic zones, banks and financial institutions, startups and small and medium enterprises. 

Minister Bektesi, within the rich program, presented the possibilities for investing in the Republic of Macedonia and the economic situation of the country and realized numerous meetings with interested investors. During the visit, Bekteshi met with the renowned entrepreneur Ph.D. B.R. Sixth, one of the most successful global businessmen and one of the richest people in the United Emirates, where he is present with many companies and factories in various sectors. 

Zaev presented programs from the Operational Plan for active measures for employment

In the framework of the working visit to Stip today, Zoran Zaev and the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Mila Carova, presented a working meeting with the employers from the region of Stip, the measures and programs from the Operational Plan for Active Measures for Employment and Services on the labor market. At the working meeting, opinions, ideas and suggestions from employers were shared about their needs from skilled staff and workers, and discussed the possibilities opened by the Operational Plan for Active Employment Measures to overcome the shortage of skilled labor. Prime Minister Zaev and Minister Carova called on employers to use the measures and support from the Government at their disposal and to be part of the process of creating professional and qualified staff for the development of the economy and job creation.

After the closing of the working meeting, Prime Minister Zaev and Minister Carova gave brief statements for the media. Finally, Prime Minister Zaev shared the experience of a recent visit to Austria where this problem, among other things, is solved by dual education, and said that the state will finance retraining and that the purpose of the measures is to gain practical experience and permanent employment.

 

Macedonian Foreing Minister Nikola Dimitrov visits Paris

Today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov, in the framework of his first working visit to the French Republic, met with his French host, Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drion. At the meeting, the Ministers expressed satisfaction with the mutual efforts for introducing new dynamics in the political dialogue, which is in function of enriching the overall bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and the French Republic. In the conversation, Minister Dimitrov stressed the importance that the Republic of Macedonia attaches to relations with France, both bilaterally and in the context of the European and Euro-Atlantic future of the Republic of Macedonia.

He confirmed to his French counterpart that the Republic of Macedonia is trying, through its pro-European foreign policy action, to be a serious and credible partner to the international community. MFA Dimitrov also met his French counterpart with the reform activities undertaken by the Government in the light of the European and Euro-Atlantic integrations, but also in a wider context, in the context of the role of the Republic of Macedonia, as a catalyst for regional cooperation and stability. Minister Dimitrov also met with Philip Etienne, a diplomatic adviser to French President Emanuel Macron, where he argued why the Republic of Macedonia is the opportunity for joint success in the Balkans this year.
