Iran’s missile program

Spokesman: Missile Program No Issue for Negotiation

in MIDLE EAST/PRESS RELEASE/REGIONS by

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi reiterated his country’s opposition to any kind of talks with foreign powers over its missile and defensive programs. “We have not changed our position and have several times repeated that our missile issues are a part of our defensive policies that are not in violation of the (UNSC) Resolution 2231 at all”, Qassemi told reporters in Tehran on Monday. “We don’t allow other governments to interfere” in our domain of affairs, he added. In relevant remarks in August, Qassemi blasted the US officials’ remarks against the country’s missile program, stressing that Washington is not entitled to speak about Iran’s internal affairs”. The issue with the missile is internal, defensive and related to deterrence which is in no violation of Resolution 2231 and is not related to them (the Americans)”, Qassemi said.

Al-Faisal call more clarity in Iranian nuclear deal

in MIDLE EAST/PRESS RELEASE by

Speaking to presenter Setareh Derakhshesh, Al-Faisal said there needed to be more clarity on the restrictions that were agreed on the Iranian nuclear deal. He said he understood that under the agreement the development of Iran’s missile program was restricted. But he said this was something Iranian officials had denied. Derakhshesh asked the prince about Iran’s stance where it claims the missile system is for defense purposes only, but that the country says no one “should tell them what to do”, that they are “free to do what they like”. The prince question Iran’s definition of “defensive purposes”, adding that he recently attended a conference where he had reviewed declarations by Iranian officials that outlined the presence of its military in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and in Yemen.
