 China invests 4 bln yuan in ITER project in decade

China has invested four billion yuan (about 600 million U.S. dollars) in the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project in the past 10 years, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) announced Tuesday. The largest international scientific cooperation project in the world, the ITER is a France-based international nuclear fusion research and engineering project that explores commercial uses of fusion power. It is jointly funded by China, the EU, India, Japan, Republic of Korea, Russia and the United States. China’s Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) — the “artificial sun” — was the first tokamak device to break the 100-second barrier. According to the ITER’s plan, the construction of the “artificial sun” will be completed by 2025, and the commercial uses of fusion power is expected to be available around 2050, said Pan Chuanhong from the MST.

Chinese premier Li calls for a new Sino-Philippine cooperation

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday called for opening a new chapter for Chinese-Philippine friendship and cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and equal treatment. Since Sino-Philippine relations were turned around last year, the bilateral ties have seen a positive momentum of improvement and development and bilateral cooperation has been promoted in all sectors, said Li. Li said his visit is aimed to consolidate the momentum for the bilateral ties and make up the time and opportunities that were once lost. He encouraged all walks of life from China and the Philippines to participate in the building of the bilateral relations so as to create conditions for enhancing mutual trust, deepening cooperation, and consolidating the public support for the long-term friendship. Aquilino Pimentel, Senate president of the Philippines, He expressed thanks to China for providing support for the economic and social development and livelihood improvement in the Philippines, stressing that the country stands ready to strengthen the bilateral exchanges between legislative organs and political parties and to promote bilateral ties to a new high.

Ukraine, Turkey hold talks on concluding agreement on development cooperation

The press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine reports that during the days of 8 and 9 of November a delegation of the Government of Ukraine headed by State Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Development Oleksiy Perevezentsev held negotiations with a delegation of the Government of the Republic of Turkey on concluding an agreement on development cooperation. During the talks, the parties noted that the signing of this agreement would create legal bases for the establishment of the Office of Program Coordination in Ukraine with the aim of developing a fruitful cooperation in the economic and social spheres between the governments of the countries. As a result of the negotiations, the parties agreed on the text of the draft agreement.

Osmani: 2018 key year for Macedonia’s EU integration

The next 2018 is a historic year for the Republic of Macedonia in terms to our integration and in regard to these ambitions we expect support from Croatia, Deputy PM for European Affairs Bujar Osmani stated Monday at the meeting with the Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Marija Pejcinovic-Buric, in the frames of his first official visit to Republic of Croatia.The meeting focused on bilateral cooperation between two countries, enlargement process and European perspective of the region as well as Croatia’s support for Macedonia’s integration in the EU and NATO, Secretariat for European Affairs said in a press release.Interlocutors underlined good bilateral relations between two countries, as basis for deepening the cooperation, exchange and mutual support for political ambitions. Osmani referred to European perspectives of the region in context to Macedonia’s EU integration processes.

Military honours for Hafter in Rome defence ministry talks

The Libyan National Army’s Field Marshall Khalifa Hafter had talks in Rome today on military issues including possible cooperation, first with Italian chief of defence staff General Claudio Graziano and then with Italian defence minister Roberta Pinotti.He also met with Italian interior minister Marco Minniti who earlier this month had invited him to the Italian capital. The meeting with Graziano focused on possible collaboration in the LNA’s fight against terrorism and the battle against smuggling. The two talked also about immigration and the Italian military’s support for the Libyan coast guard as well as the role of the Italian field hospital in Misrata.The atmosphere was much more collaborative and cordial than had been the case before the Minniti’s icebreaking visit to Benghazi earlier this month.After the session with Graziano, Hafter had an hour-long meeting at Palazzo Baracchini with Pinotti in. She is reported to have stressed upon the field marshal that Rome fully supported the efforts of UN special envoy Gassam Salamé to make the Libyan political dialogue work and believed that there could be no military solution to the country’s crisis. For his part, Haftar is reported as thanking the Italians for providing treatment in Italian hospitals for LNA soldiers wounded in the fight against the militants. Although there was no announcement about it, Minniti later divulged that he too had had talks with Hafter during the day.

PM Marković meets with DPM of Romania: Concrete cooperation in continuation of European integration process of Montenegro is agreed

Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment of Romania Gratiela Leocadia Gavrilescu had a meeting today and they agreed that their country have to start a new cooperation in the forthcoming phase of the European integration process of Montenegro. Prime Minister Marković thanked Romania for its support during the reachment of several goals of Montenegro, such as joining NATO, and welcomed the proposal of Deputy Prime Minister Gavrilescu that Romania contribute to our European path in the following period. He also informed romanian Deputy Prime Minister about the economical situation in its country and added that european integration its a priority for him and his country itself. Deputy Prime Minister Gavrilescu particularly highlighted the regional policy of Montenegro because it is a great achievement for the Balcan area.

Sisi signs three deals with China’s president at BRICS summit

Egypt’s president Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on Tuesday, signing three agreements on security, transport and satellite technology.The two leaders met on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in the Chinese city of Xiamen, Egypt’s state-run news agency MENA reported.According to Alaa Youssef, Egyptian presidential spokesperson, El-Sisi signed two agreements and one memorandum of understandin regarding the creation of a new electric train service in Egypt.The two ministries are already engaged in cooperation on security issues, having signed a technical cooperation deal in September 2016 relating to security and counter-terrorism operations. Egypt is battling a terrorist insurgency based in North Sinai, while China is engaged in counter-terrorist operations in its restive northwestern province of Xinjiang.
