Israeli forces raided the home of the head of the Palestinian public prosecutor’s office before dawn on Thursday in the village of Jammain in the occupied West Bank district of Salfit. Ahmad Hannoun said that he was very surprised when Israeli forces cut off the electricity and raided his home at 2 a.m. Hannoun added that he was forced to let the Israeli troops inside his house after they threatened to blow up his front door. Once inside, one of the Israeli soldiers introduced himself as Officer Atta. The Israeli forces left the house without searching it or stating the reason of the raid, causing fear among Hannoun’s family members, including children, the Palestinian official said.
Boko Haram jihadists killed two soldiers and razed a village adjoining the northeast Nigerian town of Chibok where the group kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls two years ago, residents said Sunday. “Boko Haram gunmen attacked the village around 19:30. They fired indiscriminately and hurled explosives,” resident Bitrus John told AFP. “They killed two soldiers and injured another one in gunfight,” he said. Troops patrolling the area engaged the Islamists in a shootout, allowing residents to flee the village unhurt, said John.
Israeli forces clashed with Palestinian youths during a predawn raid in the village of Beit Ummar in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron. Clashes broke out between local youth and Israeli soldiers after the soldiers removed and stepped on a memorial poster of Ikhlayyil. Israeli forces fired tear gas at local youth, several of whom were treated on the scene. An Israeli army spokesperson said they were looking into reports.
