Canada to provide $28 million to support return of displaced Iraqis, Syrians

The Canadian government has plans to provide over $28 million to help the return of Iraqi and Syrian people displaced in the country, Honourable Chrystia Freeland, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said on Friday 17th. Freeland said that she will attend an anti-Islamic State (ISIS) global coalition meeting with foreign ministers scheduled for March 22 in Washington D.C. In recent weeks Canada has demonstrated a more friendly approach to dealing with refugees and immigrants than its Trump-led neighbour. Canadian immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen announced on January 29 that Canada would offer temporary residency to people stranded in the U.S. as a result of President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration.

 

 

 

 

Niger lays in a dangerous triangle between Libya, Mali and Chad Lake, the Republic President said

The Republic Pesident, Issoufou Mahamadou, met last Sunday representatives from the 15 Members States of ONU Security Council, to bring the focus on national security issues with specific regard to the terroristic phenomenon of Boko Haram. Mahamadou also explained that Niger lays in a dangerous triangle between Libia, Mali and Chad Lake, and this represents a permanent menace for the country. With regard to libian crysis Mahamadou underlined that he had foreseen the current destabilization of the country durign the G8 Summit held in Deauville in 2011 but he wasn’t taken in acount. In his opinon is very important to consider African Union’s proposals to get over the libian crysis. The president also underlied that Niger suffers frequent attacks along Mali’s border; a possible solution should include a cooperation with Algeria in order to realize a plan to isolate and fight terroristic groups, and the setting up of an international task force – with contingents from Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso Chad and Mauritania, as suggested by G5. Mahamadou would hope for the Security Council to  mobilize international comunity to finance the initiative.

The loyalists of ISIS have released new distressing execution photos probably due to growing pressures from the Afghan and US forces during the counter-terrorism operation. The Group has released the horrific execution photos in social media on Sunday night which shows the two men are been executed in different ways. This incident has taken place in Achin district. The loyalists of the terror group accuse the two men of working as spies for the government and execute one of the men with gunshot while the other one is beheaded.

German ambassador to Egypt Julius Georg Luy held a press conference in the German embassy in Cairo to talk about the main topics German chancellor Angela Merkel will discuss with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in her scheduled visit to Egypt. The ambassador stated that the Merkel and Al-Sisi will tackle economic, political, and security topics. “She will discuss the political and economic relations. On the German institutions based in Egypt, Luy said that this issue is considered one of the most important matters to be discussed during Merkel’s visit to Egypt”. He added that all German institutions in Egypt are government-sponsored, meaning they are organisations affiliated with the German government and are receiving funding from it.Regarding the security cooperation between Egypt and Germany, Luy stressed that his country is supporting Egypt in its war against terrorism. He added that the security cooperation will focus on exchanging intelligence information between both countries and will include cooperation to secure Egypt’s airports and borders.On whether or not the German government considers Muslim-Brotherhood-affiliated organisations located in Germany to be terrorist groups, Luy noted that his country is following specific measures through which it can classify whether an organisation is a terroristic one or not. “Through intensive monitoring operations German intelligence conducted against these organisations, it was evident that they showed no signs of promoting violence. The German government, as a result, is not able to classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organisation”, he stressed. Germany is not the only European country to not declare Muslim-Brotherhood-affiliated organisations as terroristicRegarding the economic cooperation between both countries, Luy asserted that the power stations that the German company Siemens will establish in Egypt will cost $8bn Euros.
