Saudi Arabia, Bahrain voice support for US missile strike on Syria

Following an apparent chemical attack against innocent civilians by President Assad’s regime and the US missile strike in response to it on Friday, Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s support for the military operations against military targets in Syria. On Thursday US President Trump ordered a massive military strike on a Syrian air base and the Saudi Ministry described this action as “a corageous decision” after the failure of the international community to stop Syrian regime. Moreover Bahrain also expressed support to the military US response, saying that the action was necessary to save the lives of Syrian people.

Saudi Deputy Crown Prince said Yemen represents "the strategic depht of the Arab nation"

During his reception of Senior Yemeni tribal sheikhs on Wednesday, Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said Yemen represents “the strategic depht of the Arab nation” and that the biggest mistake of the enemy was to target Yemen, which made all the Arab world alert to what is happening there. The Deputy Crwon Prince also expressed Saudi support to Yemen and also the mobilization of Arabian Gulf states, Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, Morocco and all the arab and Islamic world. On the other side the Yemeni tribal sheikhs thanked the Saudi government for the meeting, for supporting Yemeni legitimacy and for the efforts of the Arab coalition to restore security and stability.

UK is interested to build new partnership with private companies for its exit from the EU

Flollowing the Saudi/UK SME Partnership Forum organized by the Saudi-British Joint Business Council, the co-chair of the Council Baroness Simons said that the UK is interested in build new partnership with privatesector companies in the Kingdom, due to its exit from the EU. The cooperation between the two countries will led to achieve the goals of the Saudi Vision 2030 and National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020. The co-chair also affirmed there will be a follow-up meeting in London. Moreover Baroness Simons said that Small and Medium Enterprises sector is a key area for british cooperation with the Kingdom and that small business and technology innovation are vital to the growth of both economies.

Inter-Parliamentary Union Saudi: Shoura Council condemns Iran's blatant interventions in the region

During the 136th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Dhaka, the Shoura Council condemned Iran’s interventions in the region and its attempts to provoke seditions and support armed militias. For that reason the Shoura Council called for countering and exposing threats to peace and security in the region. Moreover the humanitarian situation was discussed and the Saudi delegation expressed the necessity of more diplomatic and parliamentary efforts to end world crises. According to the Council the IPU meetings are a precious opportunity to discuss world problems and it also noted the efforts by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries in the Yemeni crisis, as they offered the GCC initiative as a basis for a solution between the Yemeni political parties. Concerning the situation in Yemen the Council said the response of the Kingdom and other Gulf countries was an ethical duty and that the operation Decisive Storm is conformed to regional and international charters. In fine the Council expressed regret over the failure of the UN Security Council and the international community to find a solution to the crisis in Syria.

King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid: Saudi Arabia provides $584.4 million relief assistance to Yemenis

In a statement Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabbeah, head of King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, said the Kingdom is among the top 10 countries in the worls for the volume and the value of aid provided. He also added that the center developed partnerships with international agencies to help Yemen, Djibouti and Ethiopia; in particular in Yemen it provided relief assistance worth $584.4 million. Moreover the center has started on working on two more projects: one to tackle malnutrition among children and pregnant women and another one to provide water supplies in 15 Yemeni governorates. The total number of projects directed at Yemeni citizens has reached 123 and between them 44 are food, security and shelter projects, while 16 are related to education, family protection and early recovery programs.

Saudi delegation to discuss key issues at global parliamentarian's meet

An 8 member Saudi Shoura delegation, led by the Shoura Council’s vice speaker, is participating in a fiveday world parliamentarian’s conference, organized jointly by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Jatiya Sangsad (national Parliament of Bangladesh), in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The conference was about global unity to fight terrorism and militancy, which are costing human lives, and how to end political and economic inequality. Among the participants of the conference there are 687 members of 131 national parliaments of the world, 45 speakers, 37 deputy speakers and more than 200 women parlamentarians. Moreover a Saudi Press Agency report said “the meeting aims to discuss a number of issues pertaining to the parliament’s role in preventing foreign interference in the internal affairs of the sovereign states” and that the Saudi delegation will also participate in the meetings of Arab and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to implement cooperation on regional and international issues and to ensure peace, security and economic equality across the world.

Saudi marine security units boats highly trained frogmen

The Saudi Royal Navy special units have been trained in different conditions and climates, such as mountainous terrain and deep in the valleys, cold winter months and hot summer, to fully prepared soldiers and officers. These kind of training develop extensive skills to carry out military operations with high precision. Moreover the Commander of the College of Command and Staff at the Saudi Armed Forces Al-Dhahri said the units currently operating with the coalition forces to support the legitimacy in Yemen are among the most trained combat units. These special navy units have advanced boats and special equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles and the members undergo intese training programs inside and outside the Kingdom and are involved in joint annual exercises with forces from allied countries. Just last week it was carried out an operation in which naval mines were identified and deactivated in the see of Yemen.

King Salman stresses on a peaceful solution in Yemen

During the 28th Arab Summit opening session King Salman stressed the importance of a peaceful solution to the crisis in Yemen based on the Gulf initiative and outputs of the national dialogue. He also underlined the importance of unity and stability of Yemen. Moreover he talked about Syria and said that in Syria in necessary a peaceful solution too. In fine King Salman highlighted that “the most dangerous thing facing our Arab nation is terrorism and extremisms”.

Saudi Arabia: New tax regime to boost Aramco IPO value

Saudi Arabia approved a new tax regime for oil and natural gas producers on Monday. Under the new regime hydrocarbon companies will be taxed depending on their capital, therefore companies with capital of more than SR375 billion will pay 50 percent income tax, those with capital between SR300 billion and SR375 billion will pay 65 percent tax, those with capital between SR225 billion and SR300 billion will pay 75 percent of tax and those with capital below SR225 billion 85 percent of tax. The consequence will be a boost of Saudi Aramco’s valuation and it will see its income tax fall from 85 percent to 50 percent. The new rates will also put the company in line with international benchmarks and the new rate is effective retroactively from Jan. 1. Moreover future investrors interested in buying Saudi Aramco shares will see more clash flow. In fine the government will not lose income due to the fact that any reduction in tax is replaced by stable dividend payments.

Arab Coalition: Houthi rockets smuggled through Yemen port to bomb saudi cities

The coalition Command to Support the Legitimacy in Yemen said today in a statement that Saudi border cities were targeted by Houthi militias with smuggled rockets through the port of Al-Hodeidah. The Command added that the Coalition air forces targeted immediately the launching sites and that the Royal Saudi air force intercepted four ballistic missiles launched towards the cities of KhamisMushayt and Abha and they destroyed them without causing any damage. In fine the coalition said these actions are the strongest evidence of the continued smuggling of weapons to Yemen especially from the port of Hodeidah.
