Pakistan reiterates opposition to treaty banning production of fissile material for nukes

At the UN, Pakistan reiterated its opposition to any fissile material cut off treaty that discriminated between different  nuclear weapon states and did not ensure equal and undiminished security to all states. Speaking in the Informal Consultative Meeting called by the Chairperson of the High-level Fissile Material Cut-off Treaty (FMCT) Expert Preparatory Group,  Yasar Ammar, Counsellor at Pakistan’s Mission to the UN, argued that a universally acceptable fissile material treaty would have to avoid discrimination between the different nuclear weapons possessing states. “There should be no preferential treatment for any country in terms of existing stocks. The treaty should lead to equal and undiminished security for all states”, he added.

Afghanistan calls on Pakistan to de-escalate tension at border

Afghanistan has called on Pakistan to re-open the border, which had been closed in the wake of the recent spree of terrorist attacks. the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to Afghanistan Abrar Hussain and Afghan Deputy Commander-in-Chief General Murad Ali Murad met on February 27. General Murad had requested at Islamabad for de-escalation at the border and re-opening of the crossing points between the two countries. He also promised to fight terrorsim with the shared information between the two countries. Ambassador Hussain said to Murad that should take measure against Pakistan to deny its attack inside the country.

Rouhani met Sharif: necessity for closer cooperation between Iran and Pakistan in the fight against terrorism

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, in a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, underlined the necessity for closer cooperation between the two neighboring countries in economic fields and in strengthening security along their joint borders. The first have said: “Our borders should remain borders of brotherhood and friendship in a bid to prevent terrorist groups from taking advantage of them” and “To that end” Rouhani added “we are ready for closer cooperation in the fight against terrorism which is a menace for all sides”. He described the two countries economic ties in the past year as “progressive” and at the same time noted that the two sides enjoy abundant capacity to further deepen their ties.The other part said ‏that Iran and Pakistan are “brothers and neighbors” and will remain together irrespective of all possible challenges.

The 13th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) kicked off in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad on Wednesday. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan IlhamAliyev attended the event. He said Azerbaijan has good relations with countries that are members of this organization and is strengthening economic ties with its partners on both bilateral and multilateral levels. President Aliyev stressed that the friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan are based on mutual trust and support. He also made some remarks on the consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Armenia’s ignoring international law, noting that Pakistan is one of the 10 countries that have recognized the Khojaly genocide officially.

Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad: Rangers detain 600 suspects including two Afghans in Punjab

RAWALPINDI – Rangers arrested 600 suspects including two Afghan nationals during a search operation in Punjab as the Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad is in full swing. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistan Army, said that Rangers conducted search operations in different parts of the province, including Layyah, Rawalpindi and others. The officials checked suspected houses, madrsas and shops. Four militants were killed in an exchange of fire during the search operation, while facilitators of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar have also been apprehended. After a fresh wave of terrorism, Pakistan Army launched ‘Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad’ across the country to root out terrorism without any discrimination on February 22.

50 Daesh militants killed in Nangarhar operations

Local officials in Nangarhar have claimed that during the operation more than 50 Daesh militants which included Pakistani Nationals were killed in Kot-Haskamina districts of Nangarhar in the past seven days. Governor of Nangarhar province Mohammad GulabMangal said, “ Daesh militants are not only coming from Pakistan, but they are being supported logistically and Financially by the Pakistan Government and receive military equipment”.

Pakistan Army launches second massive assault against terrorists in Afghanistan

LANDIKOTAL/RAWALPINDI – Pakistani forces killed several militants affiliated with JamaatulAhrar after it bombed their hideouts in the Rena area of Afghanistan situated near the Pakistan border on the second consecutive day on Saturday. According to the reports, Pakistani troops successfully targeted the hideouts of JamaatulAhrar across the border and inflicted huge casualties on them. The Afghan sources informed that a high-value target is known for recruiting terrorists and training suicide bomber, Rehman Baba, was also gunned down, further adding that at least 12 terror sanctuaries, including a hideout and weapon depot camp of Jammat-ul-Ahrar`s commander, Wali, were also pounded by the forces, Geo News reported.

30 dead, over 100 injured in a suicide attack in Jamshoro

JAMSHORO (Pakistan)– A strong blast ripped through Lal Shehbaz Qalandar shrine in Sehwan Sharif on Thursday, killing at least 30 people and injuring more than 100 others. A stampede followed the blast occurred in the premises of the shrine where a large number of devotee, including women and children, were present. Rescuers are shifting the bodies and injured to nearby hospitals Contingents of police have reached the shrine that is situated slightly off the Pakistan Super Highway in Sindh province. Hundreds of people gather at the Sufi saint’s shrine every Thursday for religious rituals.
