The annual event, dubbed the 6th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada (Uprising) held in solidarity with the people of Palestine wrapped up in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Feb 22. The Palestine Intifada conference conveyed an important message to the world; the manifestation of which was echoed in the remarks made by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. The president said that once again the Palestine issue ‘brought us together’ to speak of a deep and painful scar that has annoyed the global community conscience and the Muslim world body. He noted that Palestine is not the issue of an ethnic group or nation, rather it is the injustice and denial of international rights and inefficiency of international organizations.
Iran will receive a new Airbus jetliner on March 19 or 20 and four others in the next Iranian calendar year, ending March 20, 2018, FarhadParvaresh, the managing director of the Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Iran Air) said on Saturday. The first plane, Airbus A321, that Iran purchased from the European aviation giant Airbus, landed in Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport on January 12, 2017.
Twin bombs targeting Shiite pilgrims killed 46 people in Damascus, most of them Iraqis, in one of the bloodiest attacks in the Syrian capital. A roadside bomb detonated as a bus passed and a suicide bomber blew himself up in the Bab Al Saghir area, which houses several Shiite mausoleums that draw a large number of pilgrims. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi strongly condemned the “heinous and shameful” terrorist attacks. “Indiscriminate assassinations, carnage and spilling the blood of innocent people, including women and children, are the last resort of the desperate and miserable terrorists who have lost their control more than ever following their repeated failures in different fields” he noted.
Igor Morozov, a member of the Federation Council’s (upper house) International Affairs Committee has declared his firm convinction on the importance of the observation of the treaties, as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly called the nuclear deal. He also added that Tehran is quite right in accusing the U.S. of stalling the implementation of the nuclear deal, even if Iran should improve his countermeasures for America and recreating a system of defense and alliance with the partners.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei described the country’s strategic depth in the world, especially in the region, as a major accomplishment, and said the Islamic Establishment’s growing influence has enraged the US.“Iran’s growing influence and nations’ support for the Islamic Establishment are our solid backbone and this fact has angered the Americans and made their analysts look for ways to counter Iran’s rising influence,” he have said. The Leader further referred to struggling against hegemonic powers and not trusting them as a certainty for the Islamic Establishment.
Iranian Ambassador to Turkey Mohammad EbrahimTaherianFard made assurances that the Islamic Republic’s Foreign Ministry will not allow disrespect for its citizens in neighboring countries and will show proper reaction. TaherianFard reacted to a video footage recently published in social media showing Turkish policemen beating some Iranian nationals in Gürbulak border checkpoint, saying the authenticity of the footage has not been confirmed yet and is under investigation and he added, the Iranian embassy in Turkey will seriously follow up on the issue.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad JavadZarif criticized Western countries for their failure to effectively fight against global narcotics trafficking. “West’s failure to prevent drug trafficking is a major problem. The fight against drug smuggling should not be politicized”, Zarif said Monday in a meeting with United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Executive Director YuryFedotov in Tehran. Voicing the Islamic Republic’s readiness to increase its cooperation with the UNODC in the global fight against illicit drugs, the Iranian minister said Iran is paying a high price for its contribution to the battle against narcotics and other countries should take on more responsibility and equally pay the price for the sake of security.Iran is on a major transit route for drugs being smuggled from Afghanistan to Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Addressing a huge gathering of worshippers here in Tehran on Friday the senior Iranian cleric reiterated Tehran’s unwavering policy to back the Palestinian people against the Zionist regime of Israel, saying the issue of Palestine is the Islamic Republic’s first priority.“…We cannot just overlook it (the Palestinian issue) and the world should know that Palestine is the top priority for the Islamic Republic of Iran”, the cleric stated. The issue of Palestine is closely related to Islam, which says the domination of the unbelievers over Muslims is prohibited.
In another speech, Imam Khamenei said the third Palestinian intifada (uprising) will begin a very important chapter in the history of the Palestinian nation’s fighting and will inflict another defeat on the Zionist regime of Israel.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Jaberi Ansari announced that the next round of negotiations between the Syrian government and the rebel groups is planned to be held in Kazakhstan within less than a month. “The Islamic Republic of Iran calls on all Syrian groups to join the peace negotiations with the Syrian government and take the fate of their children in their hands”, he said. He further emphasized that a communique has been finalized by a joint committee monitoring the ceasefire in Syria, which has been established by Iran, Russia and Turkey.
President Michel Aoun tried again today to justify the presence of Hezbollah arms in Lebanon , stressing that the Lebanese army is not strong enough to defend Lebanon. Aoun, a key all of the Iranian backed militant group also issued a personal guarantee that Hezbollah will not point its guns against the Lebanese people. “Hezbollah are the residents of the South and are among the Lebanese citizens whose land was occupied and part of the land is still occupied,” the president noted, emphasizing that “certainly Hezbollah’s arms do not contradict with the State and are an essential component of the means to defend Lebanon.” Aoun added: “We have a land occupied by Israel and when Israel usurps certain territory, it would be difficult to recapture it. This is how we must view Hezbollah’s weapons.”
