Iran vows to back Afghanistan following Kabul blast

BreakingNews @en di

Iran’s FM spokesman while slamming Wed. terrorist attack near Afghanistan’s diplomatic zone, said Iran will always stand by the Afghan nation and government during difficult times. Bahram Ghasemi expressed condolences to the Afghan government and nation as well as the families of victims over a huge suicide bomb attack near the diplomatic area in Kabul on Wednesday morning, which killed at least 80 people and injured 300 others. Ghasemi voiced hope that political initiatives and talks between Afghan groups without intervention from certain regional and trans-regional countries accused of arming terrorists will raise a wall against such violent, inhumane acts that have targeted peace and stability in Afghanistan. “Terrorist attacks are condemned and unacceptable and must be responded to no matter where they occur or by which group or under whatever pretext”, Ghasemi stressed. He went on to add, “the suicide attack in Kabul this morning was another warning that negligence in combating terrorism and the continuation of support from certain countries in the region have caused a wide spread of such heinous acts in recent weeks”. “It is imperative that all peace-seeking countries give considerable attention to the issue of extremism, its roots, its promoters and sponsors”, he said.

Iran respects Turkey’s yes to referendum

BreakingNews @en di

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi has said Iran respects the results of Turkey’s referendum, as it is the decision of the Turkish nation. Ghasemi, who was attending his weekly press conference on Monday, made the remarks announcing Islamic Republic’s stance toward the referendum held in Turkey on Sunday; “it is an domestic issue of Turkey and Iran respects whatever the Turkish people vote for; it is too early to discuss the effects of the act yet we hope it would help peace and stability in the region and Turkey as well”. On trilateral military cooperation between Iran, Russia and Syria, Ghasemi, while underlining that the trilateral cooperation is a normal and longstanding one that also would include military collaborations when needed. “Iran objects any movement threatening territorial integrity of regional states; Iraq is not an exception and its sovereignty is an absolute rule for Islamic Republic; therefore Iran backs coexistence of all ethnic and religious groups within the frames of Iraqi government and its constitution”, the spokesman said while responding to a question of Iraqi Kurdistan. On US and its recent military measures in the region, Ghasemi said “they seem to stem from US’ bewilderment and its domestic issues rather than being a pure military action; they were to do something in Middle East to earn at home and deliver certain messages to their allies in the region; yet they are the ones who will lose at the end”, condemning US attacks on Syria and Afghanistan calling them politically-motivated. “Iran’s stance on recent developments in Syria is clear; we strongly condemned the attacks and called for establishment of a fact-finding committee”, he said adding, “Moscow visit by Foreign Minister Zarif was necessary as consultations were needed between key players of Syrian issue; Turkey also would join the three states in Astana talks scheduled for May”. “Iran would not violate JCPOA and anyone who would preside the country is expected to take the same approach”, the Foreign Ministry spokesman reaffirmed when asked on violations of the deal by other parties.

Tehran still undecided on Brussels Syrian session

BreakingNews @en di

Mr. Bahram Ghasemi told reporters on Thursday Iran had received an invitation to the session but had not come to a decision on participation or nonparticipation in Brussels, Iran’s state news agency IRNA report said. Brussels will host an international session organized by the EU and chaired by Federica Mogherini; “It will have two main objectives. On the one side, taking stock of the implementation of commitments of the donor community at the London conference, on which the EU has delivered in full”, Mogherini had told the press after the meeting earlier January. “But most of all it will be a political conference, hoping that could be the moment for the international community together to turn the page and start the political transition, the reconciliation process and the reconstruction of Syria”.
