Iran-Latin America trade volume nearly $4bn

The current volume of trade transactions between Iran and Latin American countries stands at nearly $4 billion, but there is more capacity for cooperation, head of the Americas at Iran’s Foreign Ministry said.          Director General for the Americas at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Mohammad Keshavarz-Zadeh, made the remarks on Monday during a review session of opportunities for cooperation between Iran and Latin American countries. He stressed that there is no obstacle to expansion of ties with Latin America and there is a strong political will on the Iranian side for developing relations with that side of the world. In addition to cooperation in mine and mining industries, Iran welcomes expansion of cooperation in the fields of heavy industries, aerospace, biotechnology, and nanotechnology, he added. He stressed that Foreign Ministry will support all Iranian companies wishing to have an active presence in Latin America. According to Keshavarz-zadeh, many problems currently hampering the expansion of relations between Iran and the Latin American countries is due to a lack of knowledge of the existing opportunities and capacities. He added the visits of Foreign Minister Zarif and President Rouhani to various Latin American countries in the past two years indicates Iran’s keen interest in developing ties with these nations. The volume of foreign trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran excluding oil exports in 2016 reached nearly $90 billion, with $43.9 billion in exports and $43.6 in imports.

Egyptian President El-Sisi and Merkel stress joining efforts in facing terrorism and migrant crisis

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel stressed cooperation between both countries in combating terrorism and irregular migration at their meeting in Cairo on Thursday. Merkel arrived in Cairo earlier in the day on a two-day visit to meet with President El-Sisi and other Egyptian top officials, her first visit to the country since 2007. During the meeting, Sisi and Merkel inaugurated via video conference the first phase of a project managed by the German power giant Siemens to build three new power plants in Egypt. El-Sisi said that the current turbulent situation in the region is not only a threat to the Middle East but also to Europe and the whole world.Merkel promised to provide Egypt with $250 million in support for its economic reform program.The German Chancellor described the reform program as courageous and praised Cairo’s commitment to honour the terms of the $12 billion loan extended by the International Monetary Fund to the country.Merkel also criticised countries which she said are involved in supporting terrorism in the region, expressing hope that Egyptian efforts to solve disputes in the region, especially in Libya, would see success.The German Chancellor also described the Egyptian-Tunisian-Algerian initiative – which aims at finding a solution to the Libyan conflict – as important and successful.

The regional councils of Greater Tunis governorates and the Ile-de-France region signed, on Tuesday in Tunis, a decentralised co-operation agreement on several areas of focus. The Agreement is been signed by Local Affairs and Enviroment Minister Riadh Moukher and President of the Ile-de-France region Valerie Pecresse, in the presence of the Ambassador of France in Tunis. Economic development, renewable energies, environment, education, training and youth are directly concerned by this agreement. “This is an ambitious and symbolic agreement” said Pecresse to Tap, adding this agreeement represents France’s will to aid Tunisia in his way of development. According to her around 500.000 French person have familial ties with Tunisia and around 30% of foreign inhabitants of France come from the Maghreb region.

Ghani has met the UAE officials to talk about security and cooperation with Afghanistan

The Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has met the UAE officials to talk about security and cooperation between the two countries. It is been confirmed by the spokesman Shah Hussein Murtazawi. Earlier the commission delegation of Kandahar had told to Ariana News two neighboring countiries were involved in the terrorist attack in Kandahar, where 5 UAE officials had lost their lives. The President Ghani in this meeting has presented a reliable report on this attack to UAE officials, that point out innonce of Afghanistan. In the same time, Ghani, have to convince United Emirates Arab to give the necessary financial support to Afghanistan.

The trade exchange between Iraq and Iran has reached $6 billion in the last two years

On monday Iraqi Ministry of Trade announced that the trade exchange between Iraq and Iran has reached $6 billion in the last two years. Iraq exported goods worth $60 million to Iran in 2015 and 2016, according to the statement.“The annual rate of increase of the trade exchange between Iraq and Iran has reached more than $250 million,” the statement reported. “The rate continuously increases despite the oil price, which is low at international markets.”Trade and economic relations between Iraq and Iran have increased since 2003.

PM Nawaz Sharif said Pakistan believes in a peaceful co-existance with all the countries of the region

Leaders of Iran and Kyrgyzstan on ways to get a stronger relationship

Rouhani and his Kyrgyz counterpart, Almazbek Atambayev, held talks on ways to get stronger Tehran-Bishkek ties in all spheres. The two sides also hailed the outcome of efforts to promote cooperation in diverse fields during 24 years of their diplomatic ties as “positive” and stressed the need for boosting the relations more than ever. For this reason, the Rouhani’s trip to Kyrgyzstan is a manifestation of the two countries’ joint efforts to further deepen relationship. The documents include a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between Iran’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Central Asian country’s State Committee of Information Technologies and Communications.

Iran to promote cooperation with Armenia in the energy industry

At a joint meeting Iran’s President was called to express the country’s willingness to promote cooperation with neighboring Armenia in the energy industry, gas exports to Armenia and construction. Highlighting the suitable grounds for cooperation in the transportation industry, Rouhani said railroad links between Iran and Armenia would connect the Persian Gulf to the Black Sea and benefit the whole region. He also said expansion of bilateral economic ties and cooperation in the engineering and technical fields require easier banking interaction. Armenia’s President also made comments at the meeting, saying his country sees no obstacle to the expansion of ties with Iran.

Agreement on devolopment of military-technical cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan

Russian and Uzbek Defense Ministers, Sergei Shoigu and Kabul Berdiyev, have signed an agreement on the development of military-technical cooperation and the plan of bilateral cooperation between the two countries’ Defense Ministries for 2017. Shoigu affirmed that the signing of this document  will make it possible for Russian Federation to tackle the issues of equipping Uzbek Armed Forces without delay and boosting their combat capability. According to Russian Defence Minister, this concerns, first and foremost, joint steps to ensure the two countries’ military security enhance the armed forces’ combat potential, train military personnel and develop military-technical cooperation. The Minister added that the program of modernization and re-equipment of Uzbekistan’s armed forces with modern Russian weapons until 2020 is being implemented.

Azerbaijani President hopes the successful co-op with new US administration will continue

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received US Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Bridget Brink on Nov. 22. The head of state recalled broad discussions on bilateral relations and regional issues that they held with Bridget Brink in summer of 2016. President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that successful cooperation between the two countries will be continued with the new administration of the US. Brink highlighted her country’s strong support for Azerbaijan, as well as for the entire region. She said the US has carried out consistent policy in this regard for a long time.
