RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa confirmed death sentences awarded to another 8 hardcore terrorists involved in heinous offences related to terrorism, the military’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations said in a statement. These terrorists include those who planned and executed an attack on persons of Ismaili Community at Safoora Chowrangi Karachi, wherein 45 persons died on the spot and 6 others got injured. They also include those who killed a social worker Mst Sabeen Mehmood, kidnapped 2 Chinese Engineers and a civilian for ransom.

3 civilians killed by ISIS militants

People affiliated with ISIS shot down three people that had no connection with security forces. It happened in Darzab district of Jawzjan province. Abdul Hafiz Khashi security in-charge of Jawzjan told BNA that ISIS militants attacked on local police forces security posts faced with security forces resistance and fled but the 3 people killed were just civilians. ISIS militants carried their dead bodies with them, and it’s not clear why they didn’t handed over their bodies to their families.

Meeting between Russia, Chins and Pakistan to discuss about security in Afghanistan

Russia, China and Pakistan met on 27 of December in Moscow, to discuss about security and also about the increasing of terroristic activities and attacks in Afghanistan by groups like IS. However there was no inclusion of Afghanistan in the meeting. The participants focused on the necessary to continue the efforts to assist the reconciliation process in the country and the promotion of peace but the Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmad Shekib Mostaghni said that the meeting without any representatives of Afghanistan does not make sense. It could be easily read like an interference in the national affairs.

Turkey and Russia are close to brokering a new agreement that would expand a cease-fire between the government and opposition groups to all of Syria. Turkey and Russia have already secured the safe evacuation of civilians and fighters from eastern Aleppo two weeks ago and have been working to expand the cease-fire that is going to be discuss in Astana. There are still talks ongoing on who will participate in the Astana talks. The Minister stated that terror organizations would be excluded from the cease-fire. He also added that the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) would not attend the Astana talks. The PYD is considered a terror organization by Turkish government due to its link to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), with which it has been fighting against since mid-1980s.
